This is the cable I'm using. I've wired it directly to both the X1 and PS4 and they work fine afterwards so you might be right in that I've got a defective switch. It's either that or something in the settings of the gateway that I haven't set correctly.

That's actually really encouraging news, thanks man. My first thought was to replace the cable, the actual connection is 50 feet of Cat5e that winds around a staircase bannister to the ground floor, behind a couch, and flush against a baseboard, so the good news is that I won't have to reroute it through a wall or something.

At several places along the route, I "pinched" the cable so it would sit flush against the baseboard, I suspect that might have something to do with it. Was that a bad move? Any tips for physically wiring Ethernet in the future? I already ordered this replacement Cat6 cable, it's one of those flat Ethernet cables. Are flat cables reliable?
