For all those playing the PC version.

For PS4 users who use Android and cannot use remote play due to Sony's restrictions or an iPhone and wish to play outside of your wifi network, I might have another alternative. Check the very bottom of this post and let me know if it works.

Note: This must be done at home first.
__
Programs needed for both PC and Phone/Tablets:
__
Download the program Parsec (for universal access):
https://parsecgaming.com/downloads

Not only does this allow you to host and connect to your own desktop, but it is also an entire stand alone project that can be used to connect to OTHER PLAYERS computers and play multiplayer games with them that they're hosting from either your home computer, or the app on your phone. I frequently see people hosting Smash Bros, Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm, and other CO-OP LAN games but haven't checked it out because I'm a weenie.

Pros: Lightweight, fast and easy set up. Parsec will optimize the stream according to your internet connection so you should not have to ever worry about negative performance, but may experience piss-poor quality if the internet connection is slower.

Cons: Unable to fully customize the stream quality to preference, while the game looks fantastic on a smaller resolution regardless, some may prefer to have more control over their streaming settings.
__
Moonlight Streamer:
https://moonlight-stream.org/
An alternative program, but only for nVidia cards as it allows you to stream from your PC without use of an nVidia Shield. The quality of the stream can be set to your liking, and you can even have it rendered at full specs, but be sure you have a very fast and consistent internet connection nearby. This can also be downloaded for Amazon Fire TVs so you can stream from your PC to your TV--if that's something you want to do.

Pros: Ability to choose streaming preference, has native driver support through the application and also includes ability to Wake-on-Lan built into program.

Cons: More likely to cause tearing and or negative stream quality if not utilized correctly. Also looks like an unpolished gray turd, GUI is not too flattering.
__
Or even Steam Link if you rather use Steam Big Picture Mode or have XIV natively installed through Steam (or added as a non-steam game through your library) but generally I find Parsec works faster and smoother with less set up.
__
Additional (optional) program for phone/tablets:
Wake on Lan (Google play, may be other equivalent for Apple Store)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.uk.mrwebb.wakeonlan&hl=en_US

This will allow you to wake your PC from your phone should your computer put itself into sleep mode so if you're out and about and want to play, or simply at home and don't feel like getting up because bless papa technology.
__
All programs work wonders, but Parsec is quite easier to work with and less hassle.
____
Once you pick your program of choice, or both, go to your phones app store and search for Parsec or the Moonlight Streamer app and install.

Once both the host application is installed onto your PC and client app installed on phone/tablet, launch the app of choice from your phone/tablet.

  1. It will typically instantly show your host computer that you can connect to through your local network.

  2. Click your PC's device name in connection list

  3. Wait for the connection to bridge.

  4. ???

  5. Profit.

Your phone will then display your PC screen which can then be controlled by using touch input on your phone.

Connect a Bluetooth controller to your phone (my choice is the IPEGAa Red Knight (https://www.amazon.com/IPEGA-PG9087-Wireless-Controller-Gamepad-Joystick/dp/B07CVT47BC), looks and feels like a PSP with all buttons including L1/L2 & R1/R2.
Note: There are better controllers out there for use.
    I'm just a baller on a budget. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Launch FFXIV, and enjoy playing your game anywhere, anytime! You can then play on ANY wireless network, or through cellular data (some additional port forwarding may be required, but you can just Google "Parsec port forwarding")

Additional note: both Parsec and Moonlight will natively include drivers that will emulate Xbox drivers, so once you connect your phone to your PC via stream the app will automatically recognize your phones Bluetooth gamepad as an Xbox controller with no hassle or additional setup.Your pc will just assume that your phone & gamepad is an Xbox controller and you can game away.

The graphics are still flawless and I don't get any artifacts or buffering issues unless my connection is poor, but even then it runs full frame rate with no lag or delay. Able to run dungeons and raids with no issue. When I'm ready to lay down at night, I just grab my phone, turn on my controller and connect through Parsec and continue my gaming in bed. The only downside is it's hard to communicate, sure you can use Auto Translate but it's not the same. The blue overlay on the screen can be hidden if clicked on, but also provides a " software keyboard" so you can type from your phone and it will type it on your computer, however, I've had mixed results when trying to keep the chat window active on XIV.

PS4 USERS with Android without Remote Play accessibility & iPhone users wishing to use cellular data instead of being locked to a wifi network
    __
I recommend trying to download either the Mac OS/Windows PS4 Remote Play depending on home PC OS from https://remoteplay.dl.playstation.net/remoteplay/lang/en/index.html

Once installed, go through the prompts to connect your DS4 to remote play through the Sony PS4 Remote Play Program. Now, once set up and you can remotely view your PS4 on your computer of choice, go download Parsec:
    https://parsecgaming.com/downloads

Install it onto your host computer, then go the Google play store/Apple Store and download Parsec for your phone.

At this point, you theoretically should be able to remotely connect to your home computer through Parsec whether it be Mac OS or Windows OS and your host computer will then be streaming the PS4 Remote Play program. Based on that idea, Parsec should be able to convert your gamepad once you've then instead connected your Bluetooth gamepad of choice/DS4 to your phone into natively working drivers that will allow you to control your PS4 Remote Play with your DS4/gamepad connected via Bluetooth on your phone.

(You can connect your DS4 to your phone by holding the Share Button and holding the PS button until the light starts rapidly blinking and selecting it in your Bluetooth device menu via your phone)

Again this is just an idea thrown out there based on how flexible Parsec is, as it streams your desktop and natively utilizes drivers on your host computer to ensure your mobile connected controller can be used. Let me know if you have any luck!

I have this controller, the Ipega Red Knight, it has worked well for me for this exact setup, streaming games to my phone with the Steam Link app on android. The controller quality isn't the best, buttons/joysticks/triggers/d-pad feel a little cheap, but it does the job. The battery life is fantastic on it, so that's a big plus.

This is the one I've been using for awhile now and it works really well.

I picked up something similar to this on a whim and I have to say, it's been great. I bought San Andreas on the Play store, but I've barely touched it. Instead, I usually use it to play Steam games via Steam Link.

I haven't used it for emulators, since I have the PSP, but I imagine it would work great if you were looking for an all in one solution.

you can use a controller for phone as well. ps4 and the newest xbone controllers will connect bluetooth and work out of the box. Wired usb controllers work with a standard OTG adapter(this is actually my preference), or there's the plethora of bluetooth phone controllers.(the ipega line are some of the most common right now)

I also have a usb adapter that I can use my switch joycons on my phone, which works great(Magic-NS)
