GET A Tempered Glass Screen Protector NOW. The screen is plastic and can scratch when taking it in and out of the dock

I can testify on those controller grips, but the model I got had larger trigger paddles. There are a lot of manufactuers of the design - seems some have better triggers than others. Here is the AmazonBasic branded one.

it is also worth pointing out that there is a "Pro" controller that is shaped like a normal console controller.

More general wisdom; If you buy a 2nd dock - be on the lookout for Chinese knockoffs. The Switch does NOT use a normal USB C plug - the voltage is different. (even though it is shaped identically). Using the wrong plug can fry the system (much like first gen USB-C phones. Do research first.

There are cases for the switch to protect when traveling - but not useful when dropped. Examples

There are Grip cases - but they will not protect from a fall. And the joycons will be in the case. Example Which may affect any travel case - if you use one. The Amazon page claims drop protection, but I'm doubtful on any of these. And the Joycons "popping" off when dropped may be a safety feature intended by Nintendo. (much like the console sitting vertical when docked for heat distribution)

There is no drop proof case. IMO.

Also, keep an eye on Bionic, they make some cool joy con chargers. Easiest way is to just leave it connected to the switch charging.

The pro controller will charge via micro USB like a Xbox controller.

I recommend a case like this. Adds some girth right where your hands need it.

Has anyone tried this thing yet? It's TPU which I like much better than hard plastic for protecting my devices and also has grips for tablet mode

Hi! If you are worried about your kid dropping the switch, I would highly recommend the JETech Protective case. Should only set you back about 15 dollars. Keep in mind that you won't be able to dock your switch with this case, but its really sturdy and comes in handy if you guys are on the go (It has grips on the back, which negates the awkward hand positioning).

I would also recommend a glass screen protector, and for a controller I would invest the Nintendo Pro Controller which is wireless (70 dollars retail, but it goes on sale quite a ton. I would check out r/nintendoswitchdeals), or if you want to go cheaper a wired pro controller (20-30 bucks)

Just want to note that Mario Kart can work with just the two joycons you have, so if you really don't want to drop a lot of money you are already covered!

Got that, it's definitely better than holding it bare. Still not ideal, but better.

u/Bill0405 · 5 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

[This] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07457V4XJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_kV26Ab6PBD5EG) is the one. Grabbed it on a lightning deal for $11. I love it. Feels so good in the hands.

u/Skhanna786 · 4 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

If you want to go through Amazon, I do have a combo that works!

https://smile.amazon.com/JETech-Protective-Shock-Absorption-Anti-Scratch-Nintendo/dp/B07457V4XJ/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1518114763&sr=8-3&keywords=switch+grip

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MY9JB2U/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It fits inside the case perfectly with even grip installed. Both are really amazing. I might get the Skull case when it comes on Amazon, but I am very content with my current combo.

Total price is like 35 bucks too, so quite cheap imo.

u/DesertPunked · 3 pointsr/gaming

Op if you play the on the go a lot I suggest a grip cover to make the experience a bit more comfortable.

I just recently bought this protective shell and it has a nice feel and makes it more sturdier

u/Fedonox · 3 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Here is one that I would recommend.

EDIT: German amazon, don’t know if they ship to your home country. But maybe they sell it in your country too.

u/weareallusers · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I use this and this and it fits well enough. I can also fit my charger and joycon straps in the zipper part.

Only thing about that carrying case is mine had a pretty strong odor for a while, but it did go away.

u/houmi · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I got this grip recently and my playtime has gone up ten fold...

u/DevlinRocha · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I can’t find it anymore either, they must’ve taken down their listing for some reason… maybe they’re making a new model or getting more in stock? Anyway, I found one similar for you on Amazon, but no promise towards the quality of this one. Skull & Co are raves about on this sub so it might be worth waiting.

u/TemptedTemplar · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I'd go for shock absorption over hard plastic.

The "cystal" clear plastic cases aren't really great for protection and can shatter if impacted in a corner. As well as making docking or using a screen protector a hassle.

JETech Protective Case for... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07457V4XJ
I own this and it's quite good. It even fits in the slim switch cases.

u/Mattprime86 · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Hey OP I know you already ordered but I thought I'd throw my info into the ring here. I bought this model:

JETech Protective Case for Nintendo Switch 2017, Grip Cover with Shock-Absorption and Anti-Scratch Design (Black) https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07457V4XJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_kYY2Bb53NRJYW

And it is absolutely fantastic. Super inexpensive and really feels great to hold. I, like you, play 99% docked, but snap this on when I'm headed somewhere for a few days.

Just thought you'd like another option. Cheers!

u/Bainge · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

If you end up playing in handheld a lot (I do almost 100% of the time) a grip case is a must. I use this one

u/AntRedundAnt · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I wish, it would make DOOM so much easier to play on the go

EDIT: I managed to find this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07457V4XJ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_iahcAb9JMZMGY

Just bought it, it arrives on Tuesday. I’ll try to remember to edit this comment again once I get to try it out

EDIT 2: This thing is amazing. It’s so much more comfortable. The issue with the camera and aiming in DOOM disappears entirely with this case since it gives you a better grip. It’s just below using a Pro Controller IMO. Do recommend

u/felixmontoya92 · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

I highly recommend this Grip Case.

u/Ttm-o · 2 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

There's a case like this if you're worried about your kid dropping the Switch. As for the second controller, you can either get another pair of Joy Con Controllers or a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. To charge the Joy Cons you'll need to have it on the Switch docked. If you don't want to do that, there is additional charging small dock for Joy Cons like this below.

https://www.amazon.com/Joy-Charging-Dock-Nintendo-Switch/dp/B01MR6JD1M/ref=sr_1_cc_1?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1519516806&sr=1-1-catcorr&keywords=joy+cons+charging+dock

If I can toss my two cents, please get yourself a tampered glass screen protector and a carry case for the Switch. Happy gaming! :)

u/kittenkinesis · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I got this one on amazon. I originally had gel grips but they had no structure, just got squished and would move around when I was intensely playing in handheld. I looove these.

u/djstorm1987 · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Just got a new switch and am thinking of leaving the screen naked as the guy from best buy last night did not notice a huge speck of hair underneath the screen probably cause it was near closing time and he was in a rush. I went again this morning and as soon as I got home a huge bubble was formed in the center of the screen therefore I decided to just remove it. I purchased this protective case from Amazon

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07457V4XJ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and am now looking to find a travel case where I can fit the protective case inside. Any ideas? worst case scenario while packing Ill just put a cloth or a sleeve on the screen to prevent it from scratching while traveling. By the way I will not be using the dock as I got an adapter to connect it to my TV and as far as travels are concerned I will only be using it to go back and fourth to Dubai which I go for at least 2 times a year.

Having to remove the case after every travel or whenever I intend to take it in a travel case is what Im trying to prevent on doing as I fear that since the case is hard it may break the L & R buttons on the back while removing it.

u/CryHav0c · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I should have said "grip" singular, it's this one:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07457V4XJ/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Looks like it's gone up in price. Should note that it adds a little weight to the switch also. But overall it was a good purchase and it still fits in my carrying case with it attached.

u/1-800-Gankahoe · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Big enough for switch, pro controller, small portable dock, power bank, joycons, and a small cartridge case. Carries a lot for it's small form factor. And my JETech shell I put on my switch provides enough protection if I dropped my bag. This is the shell.

I bought a silicone skin for it on Amazon, one of those Chinese ones, gives it ergonomic grips on the back and a nice general grip/hand feel. It won’t fit in the dock in the skin but it’s so comfortable I couldn’t care less.

u/Shinkyo81 · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I have this case, this tempered glass and this cover for handheld mode.

I would recommend a portable battery like this one if you plan on using the Switch on-the-go a lot.

u/EnderWillSaveUs · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

The clips are cheap plastic on purpose. Watch any YouTube drop test video and you’ll see that breaks and the main console ends up ok because of it. So, where you can replace them with metal, you might not want to with kids dropping it. I’d say get Nintendo to fix with the plastic, then buy this unibody case, or something similar so they just hold in place.

I have this case. Really comfortable to hold.

u/Girgl · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

You could use a wrapping case like that from JETech (https://www.amazon.de/dp/B07457V4XJ/)

u/AtomicBuzzy · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Anybody with a case, (specifically this one), how do you easily remove the case? I've found mine extremely hard to remove. I haven't seen any videos/posts about people complaining about it, or showing how to remove it properly, so I feel like I might be doing something wrong. Also, if this is a known problem, do you know of any cases that don't have this issue?

u/Evekk · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitchDeals

I grabbed the JETech protective case a while back for just over $10 on amazon. It looks nearly identical to this one. The added grips are now a necessity for me when playing handheld. I can't speak to durability or protection from drops really as I have yet to drop my switch but from my experience I'd definitely recommend it.

Edit: note that when I had dbrand skins on my joycons it was very snug to get on/off to the point that i ended up removing them. Console skin is fine with it.

u/bs4life723 · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Maybe this one will help you out. It won’t fit into the dock like the skull & co

Makes it much more comfortable to game with on the go. You will need an addional case to transport in and hold games

I recently bought a Switch grip case - it’s like a thick rubber casing that goes on the back of the switch and has an ergonomic grip. If you plan on playing in handheld mode for any extended period of time, I HIGHLY recommend one. I’ve had my Switch for a little over a year and started to feel the joycons loosening up a bit, only because if I held the Switch with only one hand it would unbalance it long enough to cause some minor damage. The grip case fixed all that, it keeps my joycons nice and tight to the console and also feels great to hold. :)

Here’s the one I bought:

does anyone have any experience with this grip case? I have larger hands and playing an hour+ of lumines or BOTW can get pretty uncomfortable. I noticed amazon had this in their black friday deals and wondered if it would help with my hand cramping/ring and little finger going numb and tingling

My wife and I both have this for our switches and are really happy. It feels good in your hand but has the downside of not letting you remove the joycons while the case is on. If that isn't going to be a problem, I'd recommend it though.

You'll love BoTW.

MarioKart is a classic, great for multiplayer.

Depending on your taste in games, I really enjoy playing Fifa18 Career mode on my breaks in work!

Lastly, if you plan to play handheld a lot - I would look at a 'gripcase' - I bought this one and it works a charm.. but it won't fit in the dock when charging :(

I dunno, the Switch feels pretty well built to me. A lot of the early build issues have been resolved and those controllers feel sturdy while in handheld mode.

As for size and weight, it's a bit on the chunkier side, but a good grip (I use this one) really helps out with the weight distribution.

As for battery life...it's mixed. A game like BOTW will drain battery quickly, but less taxing games get decent power on time.

u/phantomfir3 · 0 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Right now I have this. I am traveling more and I want a case that holds more. I want it to hold the Switch, AC adapter, Dock, Joycon grip with Joycons Attached, Switch with joycons attached (4 total joycons), pro controller, and to have room for physical game cartridge holder, unless it has spots built in the case for them. I was looking at this one. Anyone have this? Does it have room for everything? Is there a better case to get? Also Looking for a switch grip. Also looking at getting this grip. Any recommendations and thoughts appreciated.

u/Akatsubaki13 · 0 pointsr/NintendoSwitch

Hey! I just looked through the accessory wiki, but I didn't see much on physical cases to protect the switch itself, like [this](https://www.amazon.com/JETech-Protective-Nintendo-Shock-Absorption-Anti-Scratch/dp/B07457V4XJ/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=jetech%2Bswitch&qid=1565019656&s=gateway&smid=A1RI0YHZ8J2HZU&sr=8-1&th=1) and was wondering if anyone had recommendations? I'm potentially looking for something similar that could dock, and if that doesn't exist I just want to know it doesn't.

Thanks!
