I don't have any experience with sync issues, but I can tell you that fixing the broken lock piece on your joycon is both simple and cheap. You can find the part you need here: Joy Con Buckle Repair Tool Kit for Nintendo Switch NS Joy Con With Replacement Parts Of Left and Right Metal Lock Buckle,Screwdrivers,Screws,Crowbar,Sping Made By OLCLSS https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BDHQTT6/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_oNlcBbYZSYW3K.
It's a very easy repair and will replace your broken plastic locks with metal ones. Good luck either way!
If you're interested (though this also means GameStop won't take them, because you'll void your warranty) you can get metal pins to replace the plastic ones.
Here's a link to one of them, though there are several options.
