An OSSC and a decent SCART cable together aren't much more expensive than a RetroTINK-2X, an HD Retrovision cable, and a model 1 adapter. The nice thing about the RT2X is that you can use it with composite video or S-Video for consoles that don't support RGB, but otherwise the OSSC is better.

OSSC is what I find myself using more and more. I started primarily using the OSSC after the whole painpoint of switching between 240p and 480i (Chrono Cross, Silent Hill), and over time, found myself messing with the menus less and less with the OSSC. In the long run, if your TV supports the OSSC, I wholey recommend it. You can snag them on Amazon finally, and if it doesn't work, free returns: https://www.amazon.com/Source-Converter-SCART-Component-Gaming/dp/B07QF95QP3

oh wow thank you for the response! the only good modern cap card/modern upscaler I can think of which supports component is this:
startech usb 3 hd cap: https://www.startech.com/AV/Converters/Video/usb-3-0-video-capture-device-hdmi-dvi-vga~USB3HDCAP
open source scan converter: https://www.amazon.com/Source-Converter-SCART-Component-Gaming/dp/B07QF95QP3
would you recommend these? my old setup was the elgato game capture hd which had a component breakaway cable. I unfortunately don't have any OEM cable right now but will definitely look into one for the future! my final question is what are you referring to when you say analog circuits?

edit: i found an OEM cable with something called a toslink adapter built into the top for digital audio. would that be good? sorry for all the questions just want to learn about the best options to record gameplay.

Apparently there is a new one being sold on Amazon that has been confirmed to be using quality parts. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QF95QP3/?coliid=I2F99BQDS781S3&colid=1QW30BNZ7MJCF&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it

Thanks, I just purchased a complete assembled set from amazon UK. It should get here by the end of the week. Unfortunately a framemeister is over $400 which is just insane, and the cheaper recommendation, the retrotink is not that much cheaper and does not have scart RGB

This is what I purchased
