I just use stock Ubuntu LTS on a SanDisk Extreme PRO 128GB USB 3.1, benchmarks have it with top marks for writing throughput. I keep that in my laptop bag, but I also have a Kingston Digital 128GB Data Traveler SE9 G2 USB 3.0 that I have on my keychain with the same thing on it. The Kingston has a hole for a keyring, and metal case, it's more durable and smaller, but the write performance isn't the best, so using it is slower, but it's good to have in a pinch.

This is the one I have. On an Exotac Freekey, so it's easy to pop off.

May I fix that for you? I'm tempted to give more of my money to Amazon for this one.... But then again, I'll confess I haven't bought flash drives in a while, so I don't know if that's a good price or not.

This is the USB I used for storage. For the initial hack I used generic low powered cheap 1gig USB 2.0 stick.

From my understanding if you are using the back USB port with an OTG cable, you shouldn't need to worry about USB compatibility after the initial hack is done. Once you install Bleemsync 1.0+ and enable OTG support, the back USB gives you full power unlike the front ports which are limited in power so most if not all USBs will work through the back.

Related question: Would you recognize a small USB stick like this one on a keychain and/or attempt to obtain ICE from it? And if I wrote "ICE" on it in sharpie or something to be sure, do you have a computer you could use to get the info off? I ride a motorcycle and have been using that for a little while, but I'm not sure if it's actually workable. It allows me to put a heck of a lot of information down though, and even includes a couple jokes in the .txt file with the info. "My name is db8andswim - I hope for both our sakes I'm not dead!" What do you think?

And in the case that it's not viable, what do you think is the best method you've seen to do this? I don't keep personal information on my phone (long story), and the bike has limited cargo space...
