Those are definitely the right resources, but don't let r/microgrowery tell you that "If you can't spend 5 grand, don't even bother." There are a lot of gatekeepers there who insist that their way is the only way.

I use this light - https://www.amazon.com/Light-450w-Greenhouse-Hydroponic-Lighting-Spectrum/dp/B07DHJXX7V/ $70 each, full spectum white COB plus smaller LEDs for certain wavelengths. I've seen a big improvement over the blurple lights I started with, and at $70, I just started with one... and then ordered a second... and a third eventually. I use three lights for 4 plants and they get HUGE.

I didn't buy a fancy tent - I converted an old shower- putting up white painted styrofoam insulation to reflect light that tried to escape back towards the plant.

I'm doing hydroponics, but good potting or garden soil is just fine too. The price difference between the fancy cannabis soil and the cheaper miracle grow soil at walmart isn't that big, so I'd get the fancy stuff... but i can also tell you that if you get the Walmart dirt... it'll work. Hydroponics doesn't have to be hard either - A five gallon bucket, an aquarium pump, and a PH meter are basically all the required equipment there.

I can second the vote for Megacrop, and their free bag is definitely enough for your first grow. I've also used the dry nutrients Maxigrow and Maxibloom and been very happy. When you buy liquid nutrients... you're paying twice as much for them to add water for you. Not worth it. You don't need a whole shelf of supplements and chemicals. The basic nutrients, and ph+ and ph- are really enough to get started... though I've come to believe in a few supplements -I like to add something like hydroguard to get good bacteria started in the soil or water, and Floralicious Plus for humic acid and digestible organics. More is NOT always better when it comes to nutrients. I think the number one mistake is over fertilizing. Even if the plants start to show a deficiency, 4 times out of 5, there are enough nutrients in the solution and you need to adjust the PH so the plant can access what it needs, not just dump more nutrients in to an unbalanced solution.

I can ramble all day! If you do decide to get started, you'll find a lot of supportive folks here to help!
