Hi Happy to help you out I have a teacher friend who bought 10 Lenovo Tab 4, 10.1inch Android Tablet and has been going on great for him and the children in his class. Its for $179 trust me you wouldn't be disappointed

I bought this Lenovo which hangs on the wall using fully kiosk displaying actiontiles

Works good. Minimal bloat.

I would go for a 10.1 inch tablet, since that is the closest size for modern comics. The Lenovo Tab 4 seems to be a good cheap option. I plan to switch to this when I finally decide to break down and replace my aged Galaxy Tab 2.

I've been using the Lenovo Tab 4 for a year straight now, with the screen always on, mounted to the wall: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0711BT1QK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I use fully kiosk browser to make it take up the full screen. I've been using it for smartthings panel, but moving to homeassistant soon.

I got it last year on sale for around $110. Pretty cheap, works well. Occasionally (once every 2-3 months) it'll restart itself due to updates.

I've had a Lenovo Tab 4 10" since April and I really love it. I read novels, manga, watch anime, it's very quick and video plays well. Good for web browsing too. Sometimes our home internet will drop for a few hours and I will move my sim card into it and it works like a champ. That might be too expensive, but the wifi only version is only $160

First off, I don't know your budget, so I figured about $300 US max.

Tablets I have found with newer Android systems:

  1. 10.1 inch Lenovo Tab 4 for $165 US (Nougat)
  2. 8 inch Samsung Galaxy Tab A for $187.99 US (Nougat)
  3. USED 8 inch LG G Pad for $99.70 + $5.12 US shipping on Amazon, lowest price (Lollipop) This tablet was on the AT&T carrier, but since you say all you need it for is a alarm control panel, that's not an issue.
  4. I would have a Amazon Kindle on here, but your app is not on the Amazon appstore, however if you want a Kindle (Fire 7 starts at $49.99 US) You can get the APK and install it on the Kindle.

That's some recommendations for now, if I find anymore I'll update this list.

How is it going after 1 month of use? Any issues to report? How's the battery life? Do you use a case with it? If so, which? I am very strongly considering picking up the 10" version of this tablet. It's on Amazon for $179. Thanks!

I have used the Nexus 9 since release. I have seen many people complained of various issues but I personally never had any. I love the tablet and have been having a hard time finding a replacement but it's hard to deny that it's rather slow. I use it almost strictly to stream videos from various apps and it does that perfectly fine.

I have never used a Tab S2 so I can't say much about it.

I would recommend looking into Huawei Mediapad M3 Lite and Lenovo Tab 4. I haven't used either but they are newer than the Nexus 9 and Tab S2 so I assume they are faster and their prices are comparable. But if you plan on streaming from Netflix be sure your device can actually stream in HD.

How about the Levnovo Tab 4. It has the specs to do what you want, and you won't be limited to the Amazon app store.

It's on sale today for $125. link
