I'm geek and fan of lots of gadgets, even been thinking of combining stuff with [Raspberry Pi] miniPC for a similar solution. But then I realized that there is all this effort for reinventing the wheel, and additionally losing so much security - what happens if remote control device gets stolen? Do they get full access to all elements in your house?

Thermostat is already well developed and patentent technology, Vaillant has even "smart app" like you wish, but I find it redundant, because [VRC 700 Portable Wireless Thermostat] already does the job. And you already should have temperature sensors installed for your central heating/AC to work properly.

Lights - should definitely be motion-sensor controlled. Blinds, gates - tons of remotely controlled and well secured devices on the market.

Bundled "Homekits" - swag for the premium price. When I see [remotely controlled water tap] it makes me laugh. [Smart Wall socket] for 60 euro, well I guess [amazon customers said it]? I can just get 4-pack of [Remotely Controlled Sockets] for half the price, with none of that fire-hazard hassle.

IMO, my "inner Polish miser" tells me it's a huge waste of money.

My "inner engineer" tells me the technology for fully bundled homekit isn't there yet, and once it gets here it will be wildly cost-inefficient.
