It looks like she is using crappy 59 cent bottle paint. You should go get your girl a nice set of artist quality paints. They really are better quality. This painting looks great with the crap paint, but that paint fades bad.

The best brand is liquitex BASIC, they pretty much sell it at all craft stores. You can buy it in sets.

They have big fancy sets on amazon for about $40. They go for around $5-$7 a tube at craft stores which can really add up. (it's how I purchased mine-). Much better deal to buy a set first off.

There are other good artist brand paints, but liquitex is easy to find and its pretty good.

They sell smaller sets too for less $$. The $40 is like the big fancy one.

Anyway, maybe an idea for birthday, anniversary, or some other occasion. Or just a nice gesture.

I use liquitex basics. It is thick so you really need to thin it down. There is a bunch of recipy to thin paints and make your own ''Gunk''.

You can make your own mix and all but keep notes.

And then when the base coat is done I do my washes with oil paint thinned down with mineral spirits. You do the clean up with the solver. You have to wait a little more for that one to dry.

I started with, and still use, an acrylic paint kit with 48 colors. I can mix what I need, and I prime my pewter minis with spray paint.Acrylics

Agree with the above but craft paint does has a purpose. You can get a set of 48 22ml tubes for under 40 bucks HERE More color and paint that I will use. Having a full range of paint to use for terrain or non detail objects is nice. A color wheel for mixing this stuff is a good idea.

I have the Full reaper line and still use liquitex for projects like painting Hirst Arts blocks and terrain accessories or drybrushing highlights as the paint is thicker than the reaper. Matte and Gloss medium along with Flow Aid and you can make your own paint. The pigments will not be as fine or dense but it will work better than nothing.

If you're looking for reaper and have about 300 bucks to spend, there's a dude on ebay called kruppdora who sells 1 almost complete set of paint in 3 auctions every week. Typically you'll end up bidding against a few other people but come out under 1.25 a bottle which beats any price online or retail by far. You then end up with almost every single paint triad reaper makes and a few extras. The paint is all drop shipped from reaper directly but he gets a hell of a discount somehow. It's all legit.

I ended up getting the missing paints he does not have in his sets from a few sales but what you get there is more than you could ever use. The common advice is to just get what you need and buy pots and bottles are you need them but for the price here it made sense just to get it all in one go and save 66% off retail and to never have to worry about it.

Big set of 48 acrylics-$36
Royal Brushes-$6
*6 Mini canvases 2x2-$12

A little over, if you only have $50 you could opt for the smaller set of acrylics
In my opinion the extra 12 colors is worth the $4 (:

It’s much more expensive to buy all the GW stuff. Personally I went ahead and bought brushes from warlord games they have a nice not too expensive starter pack with a detail, layer and dry brush at 12 USD. I also found a paint set which is not standard GW colors but provides 48 different colors and being acrylic paint is easy to thin, mix and work with for 47 USD. Is also heavily recommend a spray primer. I personally like the GW ones which are about 15 dollars. If you want to seal your minis which prevents further damage another 15 for a spray varnish. Last the basing will run you a few dollars for flock but otherwise you can find sand, stones, and cork quite easily around the yard and house to base your minis really nicely.

With that gear and a retail team being 28 USD or so I’d say about 117 USD or so. Take this with a grain of salt that I am in the EU and just converted currency for convenience. Also I know you asked for the correct brushes and paint, while this is not the endorsed brand it is very similar quality and so many shades you can usually match following a painting guide. This is the setup I gave myself for GW minis to start and I found it a good way to get into it. The brushes are decent quality and the paint is nice and a lot for the money. Definitely watch some YouTube tutorials on how to thin paint etc. so hopefully this helps a bit even if it doesn’t directly answer your question.

Okay so I think the [Oz OPI collection] (http://www.amazon.com/OPI-GelColor-Gel-Lacquer-Collections/dp/B00BY6T2OE/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1394400552&sr=8-5&keywords=gel+nail+polish+when+monkey%27s+fly) is just awesome!!! I don't do my own but I invested in my own bottle of 'When Monkey's Fly' because it's just too darn cool!!!!

I actually have this box of [Liquitex Basics] (http://www.amazon.com/Liquitex-BASICS-Acrylic-Paint-48-Piece/dp/B00251I66C/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1394400941&sr=8-2&keywords=liquitex) and absolutely love it!! It's a little under your price range but incase you don't have Prime and you can grab a bunch of new canvases to go with it!

[Surprises are cool, or this] (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000MIKHEE/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=26SWLD702LW5B&coliid=I3UD6TWNP1RIFY)
