Need your advice!

I dress modestly for religious reasons. I don't wear pants, and wear only full sleeves. No slits in anything, and nothing see-though. My wardrobe consists of basically just maxi skirts + long sleeved tops, or maxi skirts with a cardigan. I do try to make my look a little nicer by wearing jewelry (and I also just enjoy wearing jewelry), but this makes it look even fancier. Because of this, I often look overdressed, especially in casual settings where everyone else is wearing jeans/shorts and a t-shirt (like class, where everyone is dressed casually and I look like I've come from work, even if I haven't). Usually I solve this to some extent by wearing a denim jacket or chambray top with my dress/skirt. I also have one chambray skirt which I like, but it's only one skirt, so I can't wear it every day (like every day that I have class, for example).

I recently started thinking of getting a denim skirt to help solve this issue, especially since I can't wear a denim jacket in the winter, whereas I can wear a denim skirt over my thermal leggings. BUT, I know that they often look frumpy and old-fashioned. I don't like the look of the typical denim skirt, like this one. They look stiff and not as feminine (I prefer more "girly" looks), especially with the seam running down the middle.

I recently came across this skirt, which looks more my style (and no seam down the front, just one in the back, plus it's an A-line shape). I'm thinking of buying it but am worried that it still won't look very nice. *I know* that it's my choice what I wear and as long as I'm happy with it it should be fine, but this is a fashion subreddit, so I just want everyone's honest opinions. Would this skirt look modest yet fashionable (while being casual) or does it look just as frumpy and old-fashioned as most other denim skirts do? Basically, yea or nay?

(Btw my body type is similar to the person modeling the skirt)
