>For the love of god, buy a CPL and use it! Having to shoot in the middle of the day because you are travelling and being in a humid and plant rich environment usually leads to not very contrasty flat pictures with a lot of glare spots. A CPL can totally fix that.

I'm not sure I need a CPL yet. I barely know how to use my camera, and very little about how to compose good shots. I've only identified my lack of a tripod right now

>Purchase another two batteries at least. Especially when hiking you can't depend on having power all the time.

Not going to be hiking much, if at all. After I'm done planning my itinerary I'll have a better grasp of my battery requirements, and then I'll splurge the money for two more and an external charger if I need to. Most of my travel will be by car.

The most challenging place I'm visiting is Gurudongmar lake, and that's more a problem with the lack of oxygen in the area.

>I was carrying a T440s around with me this year. I basically just got a bag for my camera and a sleeve for my laptop and then carries both in my backpack. This makes you a lot more flexible and is also cheaper.

I got a free bag from Sony. An el-cheapo one that's not really in their lineup on the Indian website. It comes with a single divider with which I can fit both the 55-210 and the body+16-50 but the fit is kinda tight. I was thinking of just dunking that into my backpack butI'm worried I'll break something as a result.

>Also bring an external HDD for backup. Or better two.

My laptop has an SSD so it shouldn't break from shocks. My phone also has a 128GB microSD so I should be fine. But I'll keep an external in my travel suitcase for daiy to day backups.

>For a tripod, I would check out something very light like a Sirui T-025X at 660g. Your camera and lenses are not that heavy so it should be enough.

Sirui is too expensive in my area and the model you mentioned is several times my budget based on online prices. Possibly overpriced grey market imports - I am unfamiliar with the brand to say definitively.

How is the manfrotto compact action black?
