You could get the Marantz PM6005 refurb for ~£360, and then a pair of KEF Q350’s for £495.
Or, for ease of use, the KEF X300A’s for £800. They are self powered and take 3.5mm or USB.
Just to update, I found a suitable amp. The Marantz PM6005 does absolutely everything I need.
