Using a leaf blower would be a less effective, less user friendly, more likely to irritate/freak out the dog compared to using a high velocity hair drier that is meant to be used on dogs.

I bought it in 1998 and it's still going strong. It has a variety of nozzles so you can direct air directly to the roots and can be used by one person. My leaf blowers have not lasted as long as this dryer. There's a bunch of cheaper knock-off versions out there.
