I'm finding that having a routine is extremely helpful for letting the dog know when to be hype and when to be chill. We walk the same 2 mile path (almost) daily. And I don't use punishment, it always backfires. Instead I use encouragement to get him to behave. It's flipping hard though because he's so stubborn. I have an Aussie who reacts well to being told no, he doesn't take it personal, he just stops doing the negative thing. My husky is nothing like that, he gets an attitude and will throw a fit. So our walks are very special because I have to coax the husky to do what is needed, but I have to give the Aussie clear demands or he gets confused. We're doing well and they are 2.5 (Aussie) and 1.5 (husky).

Also, find toys that you can fill with apple chunks or other food. My dogs spent an hour digging apple chunks out of this while I prepared, ate, and cleaned up breakfast: Milk-Bone Active Biscuit Dispensing Ball, Interactive Dog Treat Dispensing Dog Toy, Small https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071NZN5LS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_v2jTDbEPK066R

I have dozens of similar toys to preoccupy them. Also, I can't say this enough but two is better than one for both Australian Shepherds and Siberian Huskies. if you don't have children who enjoy playing with the dogs or if you are not a very active person who likes to do hikes and that kind of thing (or weather makes it hard to be outside) I highly suggest getting another active dog as a friend for your dog. It does get rowdy, but they are active dogs that excel at rowdy.
