The WASD Code is a huge waste of money tbh. I had one and the build quality honestly wasn't much better than a magicforce. There are keyboards that are worth a lot more for good reasons though: better customization options, better build quality, lighting effects (worth it to some people but I'm still a waste), higher quality switches, higher quality caps...
Hell, I just built a 40% that was $150 for plate/case/PCB, ~$60 for switches, ~$140 in caps ($22 for me, because I won most of the set at a meetup), plus maybe a few bucks worth of lube and maybe $5 worth of springs, so maybe a $350+ board all-in? And that's just my most recent board. I have loads of other boards, some worth more, some worth less. Generally most mass-market boards over about $120 are a huge waste of money unless you just really need those backlighting effects.
If you're wanting to give a split a try, keeb.io has some pretty cheap kits, if you don't want to build anything and are ok spending a bit more there is always the ergodox ez, or for a bit cheaper, the mistel barocco.
Good luck getting a VE.A, they are quite rare. If you just want to try a split layout, you could get a Mistel Barocco or Freestyle Pro
Just keep in mind that you’re going to have to keep the original spacebars because they are of non-standard widths, so whatever set you get should look good with those black spacebars. Also keep in mind that the caps it comes with are DSA profile, which are much shorter than SA. If having abnormally short spacebars doesn’t sound appealing, go for a DSA set instead of SA. They’re cheaper anyway.
Have you seen the Mistel Barocco?

Great looking board, I've been tempted to get it for a while now.
