I.... I meant phones that still feature a headphone jack. I still remember needing a tiny adapter to force the audio out of a pocket TV to come out of both earphones, rather than just one side.

You see, some engineer decided that (just because there was a single internal speaker inside the TV), we would want audio to come out of only the left earphone, simulating being deaf in the right ear. We needed a small adapter to convert the mono into "stereo" (of course it wasn't really stereo because you can't really convert mono to stereo). When you're not using that TV (or phone in this case), you'll disconnect the adapter from the earphones and it will get lost. I lost plenty of those mono-to-stereo adapters back in the day.

All it would have taken was a tiny bit of metal to do this internally in the TV's headphone jack, but that wasn't the plan. And besides, Radio Shack had mono-to-stereo adapters they wanted to sell!

Do they just need to be mono plugs like this?

I'm not finding any examples of separate plugs that do work.

What you'll need to do is use a splitter designed to isolate speaker and microphone inputs. Check to make sure that the single end has 4 metal bands on the connector. Something like this will work. Then plug your PS Vita's output into the microphone input on the splitter. Be advised though, that microphone inputs are mono, so you only get a single channel (the Right channel to be specific).

You might be able to use something like this to further combine your stereo input from your Vita to a mono microphone input, but I'm not really sure if that will work. All the reviews seem to focus on using it the other way, as in mono audio output to stereo speakers.

Your iPhone should record the mono audio source as a "stereo" recording, i.e. the same track is recorded on both tracks. If not, you can copy the mono track to the other channel in an editing program.

That's a really good question. I'm not sure really. I think there's 2 or 3 ways to go about this (if possible).

I'm trying to figure it out now. Maybe check if the Realtek Manager or whatever you have has the option. I'll keep posting if I find a default OS solution.

It is a mono deck. You need an adapter for the output. The adapter on its own will stick out and you have to be extra careful not to bend or pressure the port hole on your deck or you can damage it.

Where can I find a mono to stereo converter?

However, the headphones only play through one speaker (the left). I can't find a mono to stereo converter online anywhere unfortunately.

Assuming you're using Windows, here's how to set your audio to mono, so left and right channels will be combined.

This plugged into the headphone jack of the speaker mic then headphones plugged into that.

Speaker mic > mono to stereo adapter > headphones.

It causes mono to output on two speakers aka my stereo headphones. Faux stereo as it's the same audio.

Thanks for the detail. Sounds like this plugged into one port with a stereo-mono capable single earbud plugged into it should do the trick then.
