Every solution in gaming or home theater requires money. You have old tech. Gotta pay to play.

The best you're going to do without buying a new AVR is the HDFury 4k AVR KEY. Which will work for ONE source. It will take ONE HDMI output and split it to two, so you can run one hdmi to your tv and get 4k/HDR and the other to your AVR for 7.1 lossless audio.

Your other options are:

  • Run all Devices to TV and send optical or arc back to AVR. This means Lossless Stereo, or Lossy Dolby Digital + or Lossy DTS 5.1 only.
  • Game, blu-ray, and netflix in 1080p and let your tv upscale to 4k, and you live without HDR/Dolby Vision.
  • Buy a Denon AVR S530BT to replace your Onkyo for (around) the same price as the AVR Key, but deal with only getting 5.1 channel lossless audio instead of 7.1
  • Buy a Denon X1400H for $320 that will accomplish EVERYTHING you want, and do it really well. You can get 7.1 Channel 4k AVRs for cheaper, but not much. $250 is about the basement right now for 4k.

The AVSForum guys recommend this the HDFury AVR Key does Dolby Vision, but it ain't cheap.

That passes Dolby Vision, and has an HDMI Audio out.

This one below will work, but not for Xbox One X. This one does 4K @ 30Hz, and 4k @ 60Hz. I believe Dolby Vision needs to be 4k 2 120Hz.
