/u/jnassiri - unless you plan to put your shotgun on a boom and get it within 2 or 3 feet of the subject, I recommend you use lavs.

That said, the lavs you linked to are both exactly the same.

"VidPro" relabeled them to convince you that they are somehow designed for specific cameras. They are not.

In fact, these mics have inferior frequency response when compared to other mics in this price class, such as the [$29 JK MIC-J 004] (https://www.amazon.com/Lavalier-External-Microphone-Designed-Recording/dp/B012Z698ZE//ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=ll1&tag=battleforthew-20).

The JK has a 20-20,000Hz frequency response. The VidPro's frequency response is 65-18,000Hz.

Since you're planning to do interviews, you would also need a [$49.95 microphone mixer] (https://www.amazon.com/Saramonic-SR-AX100-Channel-3-5mm-Adapter/dp/B00N2GJCB2//ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=ll1&tag=battleforthew-20) to combine the input from two lavs.

Alternatively, you might want to consider a [$39.95 Movo LV20 Dual Capsule Battery-Powered Lavalier] (https://www.amazon.com/Movo-LV20-Battery-Powered-Omnidirectional-Microphone/dp/B015GEH5KC//ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&linkCode=ll1&tag=battleforthew-20). The Movo's frequency response isn't as good as the JK's - but with 2 mics, you wouldn't need a mixer.

Hope this is helpful and best of luck!

Actually, neither. A camera-mounted microphone (no matter how expensive) will not do a good job for interview audio. Whether you record the audio in the camera or with an external recorder really doesn't matter, but you need to be able to monitor the audio as you record to be sure it's good. TEST before recording and LISTEN while recording. You don't want to be disappointed later when you're trying to edit. If you have a camera that doesn't have a headphone jack, get another camera or use an external recorder.

If you're only recording one side of an interview, your best bet is a cardiod or hyper-cardioid mic on a boom just out of the frame above the subject. For a two-person interview, a dual wired mic system like this is amazingly cheap and does a great job if you position the cables and mics correctly.

Watch any TV newscast and you will see how the mics should be positioned and clipped to clothing. If you must hide the mics, it gets a lot harder. There are some good tutorials online showing how to doe it, but don't try it without testing how it's working.

Hope this helps!

I have the Blue Snowball as well; it's worked well for a group of 3, but never tried with 7. For the group of 3, I used the setting on the back (3) to better capture a wider range of sound.

I often use (and really like) this microphone for recording an interview with two people; I like it because I don't need any additional software and the editing is easier. I wonder if it would work if you attached to people at opposites ends, and it picked up the sounds of those around them?

Wish I could help more on this!

[This one[(https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015GEH5KC) looks promising. You agree?

It's a little confusing because one photo shows a TRS plug, another photo shows a TRRS. I could get a TRRS->TRS adapter, I guess.
