You could try salsa verde then. I'd try a jarred version to get a bearing on general flavor before making your own.

It most likely isn't the same as what you had, but I would really recommend trying Mrs. Renfro's Jalapeno Salsa as well. I am willing to bet it would be absolutely delicious with this. I've found it in plenty of grocery stores.
