> competitive fps's and MMORPG's.

Go Intel over AMD based on current generation hardware. Competitive FPS generally means high framerates. That means single-core performance is the big difference here. MMOs are highly single-thread dependent. In both cases, Intel wins with current hardware.

Refer to my other reply (which you may have already seen at this point) for further explanation on why I believe Intel is better for your needs. However, I'd advise waiting to see what the Ryzen 3000 series offers if you have the luxury of waiting. If even conservative speculation comes to pass, it may finally match Intel in single-threaded performance while maintaining the multi-threaded advantage. Best of both worlds, if it comes to pass.

> From what i read the 16 threads are what make the ryzen a good choice, but looking at the benchmarks the 9600k looks so much better.

Cores/threads are only useful if the software is using it. The majority of today's games don't benefit from more than 4 cores, even accounting for OS/system/background tasks. We are starting to see a push for games using 6-8 threads, thankfully, but even then, the 6 faster cores of the 9600k outperform the 8 slower cores of the 2700X.

> My point is from what i saw on videos more threads might be better for playing MMORPG's.

MMOs don't really benefit from more threads. They benefit from faster single-core performance. Using World of Warcraft as an example, they added in DX 12 support with patch 8.0, and added basic multi-threading (draw calls split across cores/threads) in 8.1. It still favors faster single core performance, [AS SEEN HERE] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5fHtDZehmw).

> btw whats a good MB for either case?

I'm actually waiting for the Ryzen 3000 series myself, but I have an Intel backup plan in place should it disappoint. If going Intel, I recommend [THIS BOARD] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HM753YR). If the high-end Wifi doesn't matter, save a bit and step down to THIS for some cost savings. These boards are otherwise offer a similar experience.

If going with current gen AMD Ryzen, I prefer [THIS BOARD] (https://www.amazon.com/MSI-Performance-Motherboard-B450-PRO/dp/B07F85YKLJ). Not an MSI fanboy, just really fond of their current generation hardware, and I prefer boards with competent Wifi.

I was just going by what the motherboard supported in the [Amazon link](//www.amazon.ca/dp/B07HM3MD1D?tag=pcp0f-20&linkCode=ogi&th=1&psc=1) and I wanted to limit the budget a little bit as well. I was stuck between the i5 and the i7. If I still have some remaining funds after everything in my budget, I might upgrade to the i7.

okay, thanks! and with all that being said, I dont plan on overclocking anything. Should I upgrade my CPU cooler anyways? is my Power supply big and safe enough? and for my MOBO, I found 2 other options. Should I stick with the Gigabyte z390 UD, or pick between one of these two: MSI Z390-A PRO or pay $50 more for MSI MPG z390 Gaming edge

Your motherboard doesn't have wifi. Why don't you look at this which is definately better than shitty Asus which do not fix their stuff with driver updates for years. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HM3MD1D/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

You need to do some research for better parts at the same price.

Edit: They do not even not have a display port on the asus mobo, biggest joke from Asus selling a mobo for $190 haha

MSI MPG Z390 GAMING PRO CARBON AC

If you can't do the $208, then you can get the MSI MPG Z390 GAMING EDGE AC motherboard for about $30 or so cheaper. The gaming pro carbon ac motherboard would be best performance though.

Built desktops with it before. Works wonderfully. Wifi and bluetooth built in. You can go to MSI's website to learn what you need to about both, tbh. https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MPG-Z390-GAMING-PRO-CARBON-AC.html

I personally like a few features about these boards the most: Mystic Light, M.2 Shield, and PCI-E Steel Armor. :)

Actually i linked the wrong motherboard, here is the one that I ordered MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Edge AC LGA1151 (Intel 8th and 9th Gen) M.2 USB 3.1 Gen 2 DDR4 HDMI DP Wi-Fi SLI CFX ATX Z390 Gaming Motherboard https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07HM3MD1D/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_J3h.BbMAB0ZAM

I'm going with an MSI Z390 Gaming Edge AC for my build I'm working on. I think they have one without the AC that's cheaper if you don't need wireless internet. I've heard that MSI has the best BIOS of any mobo manufacturer, so that's my logic. It also supports Wi-Fi 6, bluetooth, and any other bells and whistles you could want for gaming. And it's pretty reasonably priced as well!

https://www.amazon.com/MSI-MPG-Z390-AC-Motherboard/dp/B07HM3MD1D

And then I'm going with an i7 9700K for the CPU.

Hope it works out and hope I was a help!

Any idea why this says "Usually ships within 1-2 months"?

https://www.amazon.ca/MPG-Z390-AC-LGA1151-Motherboard/dp/B07HM3MD1D/ref=sr_1_11?keywords=msi&psr=EY17&qid=1574950875&s=black-friday&smid=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&sr=1-11

It did not say this before the sale price was put up. Says shipped by Amazon too.
