It's great actually we both have our own routines that put us outside of the truck so we only use it for like peeing in morning and before bed. They have a really nice one I'd recommend that I want when I go big like motor home a $1000 one it's the best . I change it about once a week for free and take it to a treatment plant and get flavored tst tabs online for the smell of the toilet

I got the Nature's Head with the spider handle, it was $960. If I'm remembering correctly the cabinet it's in is 2'X2'X2'.
The unit he's using looks like this one. Portable composting toilets are quite sanitary and have no significant odor until it's time to empty them. They have a venting system and a small fan that pulls refreshes the air. When it's time to empty, the smell at that point is similar to rich soil.
He's not pooping in a bucket and swimming in the stench.
