Well done, you're pretty much spot on, except the music is all Prog Rock. You're pretty close for my future plans, although I don't plan to go through the Air Force. Probably aerospace engineer or something to that effect.
Funny you mention the reverse engineering thing. I had one of those tiny aftermarket NES's that I was planning on cramming into some tupperware to make a portable NES. I should finish that project...
For Pete's sake, just buy a cheap clone console and the original cartridge.

The NES Retro Entertainent System will only set you back $15 if you have Amazon Prime. The controllers are shitty, but it should be good enough to test the games.

Works great, though I went and found some used original NES controllers, which work a bit better. You can still find lots of old used NES titles for cheap on amazon.
