There are tons of books out there about advice for women in the workplace. One book that was recommended to me and that I found really interesting was Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office by Lois Frankel.
I've heard good things about this book, Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office. Also I would take the pressure off yourself to be a symbol to others for a while. Just concentrate on kicking ass at your job and don't imagine people are looking to you to be standard bearer. It's hard enough to get used to any new position. I'd also recommend the blog www.askamanager.com for really fantastic career advice. Good luck!
