You could buy him a tin or two like these
Or be super awesome and buy him something like this but this box is really only worth it if he actually plays the TCG. If he just collects the cards, stick with these- booster packs.
And every kid needs a binder to put their cards in!
If your son does not know how to play the card game but would like to learn how to you could get him this.
Or you could be the best mom ever and get him a 2ds, 3ds or 3ds XL and a copy of pokemon X or Y!
You could get the hideous [2DS] (http://www.amazon.com/3ds-64-entertainment-system-wii-super/dp/B00EZPCX1A). It plays the same games as a 3DS while being cheaper, but no 3D as the name lends itself. But the 3DS is a pretty solid system with a good library. I don't think you'd regret buying one.
Here are some links for the product in the above comment for different countries:

Probably the 2ds, it's really cheap. The graphics aren't as good and it isn't as portable, but it'll be fine for pokemon.
If you are only interested in Pokemon and not other games or the 3D.
The 2DS is probably what you want.
Blue 2DS
You could also wait for Black Friday. I do believe they are going to be having them for $99
I also suggest maybe you get a 3DS, cause you may find other games you want to try. There are many great ones :)
Amazon has some new ones, but they're more expensive. No idea if they'll ship by Christmas though.

Well if you don't care about 3D and want to save some change this might be for you
I would suggest getting things they could share! Since DS's are kind of pricey, you could get one for them to share, like the 2DS then get them each their own game(s). You could get Pokemon Sun/Moon for Rylee, and Brain Quest or Big Brain Academy for Trinity
