Not sold direct by amazon, but literally cheaper than it was on launch.

Still availible literally everywhere I look for MSRP.

Currently, the only non-XL New 3DS in the U.S. is available through the Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer bundle. It comes equipped with an Isabelle faceplate, but I don't know if it has a normal faceplate as well. I have heard that imported faceplates can be used to customize it, though.

Your first link (New Nintendo 3DS) is the most recent version. The second link with the Super Mario download is the previous version. The major differences include processing power, better/more stable 3D with face tracking, and a C-Stick. If these are that big of a deal to you, then go with a previous version at a lower rate.

The New 3DS is slightly smaller than the New 3DS XL, but it has the changeable faceplates. Other than that they have identical hardware.

Amazon has it, only in bundle form. I don't think it was released standalone in NA

Hmm... X+Y version for $300. Animal crossing for $268. That's all I found though.

I'm trying to buy the n3DS (not XL). Is this a trustworthy seller/place to but, or should I try eBay, even if it's pricier? Just curious as I've gotten scammed on Amazon before.

I saw a ton of the AC bundles months ago, but I don't go out much since I don't drive, so can't say what the stock is like now. Never saw the Pokémon one anywhere, just online.
Honestly, it's not surprising. Nintendo never could keep up with the demand.
If you don't mind paying more, you do have a couple options. Just depends on how much you want it I guess. Could also check out here but they aren't fulfilled by Amazon.

If I were you, preorder it on Gamestop. Then if it goes up on Amazon, you can preorder it there and cancel the Gamestop one. Worst case scenario it'll cost a bit more and take a bit longer to arrive

Is it possible to transfer a save file from an emulator into an injected VC? I'd think that the saves would use the same format.

Also, does anyone know what version the n3ds in this bundle is? And if there's any way that I can get a downgradable US n3ds not XL without buying the bundle?

I really want this 3ds for the cover plates, but the prices have been $250 + for the past few weeks. Do you think it's worth it to buy or should I wait? To be honest, I'd also be fine getting a 3ds and buying the plates separately, but I'm having a tough time finding the plates.

Any thoughts appreciated.
