running 3x 5TB X300s in the same enclosure with my noctua redux fan.
Temps: 39 C / 39 C / 40 C after 14d uptime. I removed the front filter as well. If I don't run the fan, the drives will hit 59 C. I run the fan at 50% duty with an ambient of 74F (23 C). I run this in a corsair air 540 and it's almost a necessary accessory in my book since the case only has 2 3.5" slots (this expands it to 5).
For convenience, the fan is linked here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KF7P34G
Same video tutorial I used to mod mine. You do kind of have to get creative with the dremel to make it all fit. I used the Noctua NF-R8 https://www.amazon.com/Noctua-Bearing-Cooling-NF-R8-redux-1800/dp/B00KF7P34G/ref=sr_1_6?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1536189695&sr=1-6&keywords=noctua+nf-r8 plugged into the original fan port. It runs 100% silent with the case on and temperatures sit at 50C under full load. You can mod these fans to run at their full 12v speed for additional cooling, but I'm happy with that temp and a silent machine.
Your fan is cheap and bad. I highly suggest buy a quiet fan from amazon (e.g. noctua) and replace it yourself. You will end up with much better cooled quieter system.
If you go via synology warranty exchange they will just replace your faulty cheap fan with a working one, but that would be still cheap noisy one.
Buy this one: https://www.amazon.com/Noctua-NF-R8-redux-1800-Performance-Cooling/dp/B00KF7P34G
You need 92mm 3-pin non-PWM one.

Noctua NF-R8
Neutrik SpeakOn NL4 (4 Conductor Twist Lock.) (These connectors goes on the 10 or 12 awg speaker cable for your subwoofer speaker cable. One plugs directly into the NX3000/NX6000 and the other plugs into your subwoofer. You will only need two conductor for the speaker cable but you will need to BRIDGE the output of a channel for your subwoofer. There will be four connection points within the connector. +1/-1 and +2/-2. You will want to use Output A of Channel 1 with the connector wired in +1 / +2 to obtain output from both Output A and B. That's super easy to follow, right? Heh.)
Neutrik SpeakOn NL4 Speaker Jack (4 Conductor Twist Lock you install somewhere on your subwoofer enclosure)
RCA Stereo (Pair) to 1/4" TS (Tip-Sleeve) Jack (For AVR LFE output to NX6000 channel inputs)
Hurry up and finish that build! ;-)
This one works better imo but it requires modifying of the dvd tray. I would like to see a RGB or similar silent fan that is as good as noctua fans.

Yep you bet. Sorry for the delay. Here's the item from the 'zon. Ten bucks a pop:

Only thing nagging me in a burn-the-house-down kind of way is that these are three-pin fans, spliced into a single two-pin connector. The yellow wire is for speed control. I think. So I am just leaving it hanging with the expectation that it won't do any harm. The OEM fans are two-pin, spliced in the same way. Please - if you have an explanation indicating this is a bad call, do let me know.
Cheers
