I saw someone suggest Quercetin Bromelain in a thread somewhere and bookmarked the Amazon page. I haven't tried it, but it seems to have good reviews. I've also seen suggestions to take the children's version of one of the big allergy meds (Claritin maybe?) because it's in liquid form and doesn't contain animal byproducts.

I'm also 32. My first gout flare up was when I was 25. I don't know what you've tried but Quercetin is the only non-med which has worked for me. It apparently can inhibit uric acid production in the body. I haven't had a flare up in a year. I drink beer and eat meat regularly. I know it sounds too good to be true. But I'm sure you're open to trying anything. I take 2 capsules with every meal.

Here's a good brand:

If you can find quercitin or quercitin/bromelain complex, I have seen it on amazon.co.jp, but never in a store. It is the most effective thing I've ever used for allergies, and I get them bad.
