If you can only spend around $200 then I would suggest something like this Optoma ML500 on eBay. You could also get it used on Amazon.

Don't rule out projectors. For the size of the screen, they can be a fantastic savings and an stunning experience. Check this one out:

It's about the same cost as a 42" TV. The drawback is that they are not great in bright rooms during the day, but at night ... well, let me say that everyone who sees ours is blown away. Watching anything else is like trying to watch TV on a cell phone. You will never go back.

I just picked up the ML500. It's an LED projector and it's fantastic. No need to replace bulbs or anything. I'm never buying a TV again.
