I was a first year elementary teacher last August! I bought a TON of stuff on Amazon. I pulled up all of my old orders...here are some of my favorites that I use daily in my classroom. These are not affiliate links, I just added links for quick wishlist adding for you :)

OH, and as far as things like books, manipulatives, school supplies...WAIT and see what you are provided with, first. Once I got into my classroom, I had a TON of things waiting for me like rulers, glue, a globe...things I probably would have bought, had I had all summer to shop (I got hired a week before school started). I was surprised to learn that my school didn't provide me with supplies like staples or paper clips (I had these things when I student taught elsewhere), so I had to run out and get those. Oh, and an actual stapler and tape dispenser! I forgot about those and when I needed those in the first week, I made a trip to Staples that night!

magnetic hooks- for the whiteboard...I hang bathroom passes, keys, etc. on them https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001G52NMQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

magnetic clips- I clip SO MUCH stuff to my whiteboard, so these are awesome https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N3WLKH4/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

magnetic pen cup- for whiteboard markers and eraser, keeps them out of reach for my first graders! This one is PERFECT because the eraser fits on the one side, and expos on the other. I added little cardboard dividers on the inside so the markers don't fall over (only a problem if you don't have it full of markers) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QKXHR52/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

magnetic storage pocket- my classroom has a lot of magnetic surfaces, so I love the magnetic stuff...I keep my pointers in here https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0034ITE16/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

magnetic holders- these babies are STRONG! I keep supplies in these for math that we use during our daily morning math routines (math manipulatives and stuff). https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01F9JKW9U/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I got a few posters like these for tracking reading points, etc. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1483832767/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

tension rods- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0070ODWLI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I use one under my sink to hang spray bottles (febreeze, non-hazardous cleaner, etc.) and one between the air conditioner unit and my wall to hang anchor charts, which I have clipped onto hangers with clips like these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017WYF0IS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Seriously, hang your anchor charts. Find a way to do it and you'll LOVE it, I promise! So much better than laying them flat and having to sort through them when you need a certain one.

sheet protectors- Need cheap whiteboards? Pop a white piece of paper inside and voila. I use 99 cent store 4-pack markers, which have held up surprisingly well, for the kids (the tips also don't seem to "squish" in like the expos, so bonus!) If you're doing something like a math worksheet or handwriting practice, you can insert printed paper for kids to write on...the possibilities are endless here! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00006IC89/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

pocket charts- I teach first, so it's pocket chart central over here, but even older grades could utilize this awesome schedule pocket chart...plus it's black, I love that it's not blue or red! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/148381467X/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I actually bought a second one of these after I got the first because I liked it so much. Oh, and my black calendar pocket chart...love this, too! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1483814696/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

stickers- Kids love stickers. End of story. I bought a ton in bulk. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FF2T88C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Fan for my desk - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004HI7950/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Small and powerful!

Birthday prizes and certificates, like these - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000NNNWSQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DUF49UO/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

my favorite thing, a laminator! I laminate EVERYTHING...charts, nametags, word wall words, game boards, anything. There are different sizes of laminators that you can buy, I just have the standard one that fits normal sized sheets of paper, and it's served me very well! I also buy the refill pouches on Amazon because they are WAY cheaper than at Staples https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012UEXTQ/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

this is optional, but sticky hands- these make GREAT prizes and the kids love them more than any other prize or incentive I've offered (I teach first grade). I get these ones: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002F4MGO2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I also wanted to add...since I have primary, I wanted to make them "spots" to sit on for carpet time. A carpet wasn't provided to me (you know, the Lakeshore one with colored squares), so I went cheap and bought a few feet of carpet tape from sitspots.com. They have cute actual spots, too, but I was cheap and bought the tape, cut it into 3x3" squares, and slapped those on the classroom carpet. They're holding up great (I'll be able to reuse them next year for sure) and my custodian loves them because it's not actual adhesive tape on the carpet. I just got a new student, so I had to rearrange the spots...they peel up and stick back down PERFECTLY (they're velcro). If you have the need for something like this, I HIGHLY recommend the velcro tape stuff!

OH, and when it came to book boxes and book bins, 99 cent store, dollar tree, big lots are your friends! If you have a little more cash, I got some from Target in the dollar section, too. But, they only have theirs during June I believe (they're super strong, $3 a pop but I'll be able to reuse all of mine next year).

BEST pencil sharpener around is the one from classroomfriendlysupplies.com. It is amazing. PERFECT points every time, and it even gets through those cheap novelty wrapped pencils. I love it. My kids broke the electric one I bought, so I got this one and now just use it myself, although older kids would be able to learn it (I subbed in a 3rd grade class that had one and they used it just fine with some training).

I LOVE folders for things like an unfinished work folder, homework folder, writing folder, etc. The cheapest place I found was Staples...over summer they were selling boxes of 25 for $4. I got a ton of them in different colors. Made color coding easy!

Let me know if you have any questions or need any help navigating your first year. I'm a month away from being done with my first year, and it's still very fresh in my mind how stressful, fun, aggravating, exciting, exhausting, confusing, and rewarding it all is!

u/SeafoodDuder · 1 pointr/projectors

Sorry friend, that projector is not something you would be interested in.

There are a LOT of cheap (mostly chinese) projectors out there. When you get used to seeing some of the signs of these projectors then you'll be faster at recognizing what makes a good or bad projector.

1) The random stock images. They show kids watching a projector, mechs/robots, balloons. It's multi-purpose and 'shows' you what it connects to instead of telling you in the description.

2) They advertise 1080p or 'Support' 1080p in the title. This is mostly a clickbait thing they use to get you to click the link or read more into their projector. When you scroll down, to the product information, you'll see that the projector you're looking at is actually WVGA 854*480 (480p) with a 1000:1 contrast ratio and 100 lumens. They also advertise 30,000 hours but we don't know how long it will actually last for.

3) The little bullet points below the price like someone left their capslock key on and used stars instead of small, normal bullet points. Even the grammar in the sentences is messed up, spacing problems and things like that.

4) Some of the cheap projectors just look cheap. Sometimes you can just tell it's a generic, shit projector. Like this compared to something real like this.

5) Copycat projectors on Amazon and eBay. For example: Tronify vs Bestrunner vs Dinly. What's up with all the dinly projectors. Never heard of these companies and I've never heard of TOUMEI either.

6) Most of these reviews come from people who have never seen a real projector before. The sheer size of the picture and it not being unwatchable is great for them, even if it's 480p. It's just a toy and not a real projector IMO.

Stick to companies like Epson, Optoma, BenQ, LG, Sony, Panasonic, Viewsonic, AAXA, JVC.

To (finally :P) answer your real questions:

  1. I wouldn't buy this projector. Price discrepancy, chinese name, very low lumens. Even 75 lumens vs 300 lumens is a pretty sizable difference.

  2. Lumens is basically brightness. The more lumens, the brighter/better looking picture you get. Most 720p/1080p projectors have at least 1700-2200 lumens which would look great in a dark room, the darker the room then the better the picture. It's the same with lower lumen projectors, only the picture will appear more/less dim.

  3. From looking at some of the pictures on amazon, it doesn't look that bad to be honest but there are better things out there like the LG PH300, Dell M115HD, AAXA P5, Optoma ML 300/550, ASUS S1. Check on youtube for some videos/reviews and definitely check eBay for things like a refurbished LG PH300. Can find some really sweet deals. :)

I would recommend upgrading to a nice digital scale, it will make things easier.

Maybe get a few of these if you haven't yet thought about how you're going to store your loaded ammo.

I have that same tumbler, works great. I would also suggest a separator for afterwords. Some brass polish is nice too.

I think that kit comes with a hand trimmer, but I would recommend a larger one, your hands will thank you.

I went with a Lyman kit for my starter set, and while it's a lot more expensive than yours, I've been very pleased with it.

When you start doing 223 you'll also want a case length trimmer. This one works pretty well for me.

u/spencerkami · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

White boards are awesome and useful. Great for reminders, writing out plans for meals or daily time tables, doodling when board... Or this delightful kitty pencil sharpener? These key holders are pretty nifty too

u/skittles_rainbows · 1 pointr/Teachers

I teach mod/severe in CA. I would wait to see the population you're working with. There are some things you will need. Like velcro squares, velcro rolls, titanium scissors to cut velcro, laminator, 5 mil sheets, 3 mil sheets, rotary trimmer, and optional but I would highly suggest it, a color laser printer The printer can take all manner of recycled cartridges and its nice to have to create picture cards at home. I would also suggest getting a subscription to Lessonpix when you start teaching in order to create all the picture cards you need.

Buy smart and write your name on everything. Take things with you as you go from job to job, if you do so. You paid for it, you take it.

Buy cheaply. Try Oriental Trading Post, stuff straight from China on Ebay, Reallygoodstuff.com, Dollar Tree, 99 Cent store, etc. Look at end of holiday sales. Look at ways to make what you can or adapt items. Don't buy everything and anything.

Rupse Dc 12v Remote Car Shop Led... https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B076Y5QP6S?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

I got one of these for my car and I love it. It's pretty bright too.

You're welcome :)

u/Cab000se · 1 pointr/Bitcoin

Your ink jet will do fine, it would be best if it does not have any type of wifi connection, I had an old HP ink jet that didn't even have an Ethernet port(although like you said, if it is bip38 encrypted with a strong pass-phrase, shouldn't really matter).

For the laminator I just bought one off amazon this one to be exact and now I have a backup in my fire proof safe, my safety deposit box, and one I store at my families house above an old ceiling tile :D

u/SayaV · 1 pointr/projectors

what resolution are you looking for?
I have the Optoma HD180 (out of the market for newer models)
the Optoma HD25LV
and the ML300

and I can vouch for them for movies as well as gaming.
The good thing about the ml300 is its small size but it has a max resolution of 1024x768 I think, although you can connect hdmi to it, but it's so convenient to carry around, it even fits a messenger bag without problem.

The HD25LV or similars are the popular models, being among the preferred choices for <$1000 projectors. 1080p, 3D-capable
Great image and luminosity on both.

u/jmizzle · 4 pointsr/gadgets

I work in the profession A/V field working with large corporate events. I think very few people would be happy with something like that over the long term.

Minimally, I'd look at something that's XGA or WXGA.

The Optoma DX339 is a pretty good little projector

Optoma projectors have been around for quite a while and bulbs are usually very available for them and can be found at somewhat reasonable prices compared to other solutions.

u/SirMaster · 2 pointsr/hometheater

They do have LED projectors that have enough light output for dark rooms now.

Here are 2 good ones:
http://www.amazon.com/Acer-K330-Portable-Theater-Projector/dp/B0063R728M/ref=sr_1_29?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1345653713&sr=1-29&keywords=acer+led

http://www.amazon.com/Optomas-ML500-Lumen-Mobile-Projector/dp/B00556F9I2/ref=pd_cp_e_0

I've seen the Acer in a dark room with a 100" screen and it was plenty bright for movies.

You don't need nearly as many lumens as some people think. My Mitsibishi HC3800 is 1300 lumens and measures about 900 actual in economy mode and I have a 136" screen and it's plenty bright for movies. Much brighter and you start to lose great black levels.

http://imgur.com/a/9S4hw#12
That's ~900 lumens on a 136" screen with a "bad" camera which is why the color is off.

That said, the K11 though is probably too dim only being 200 lumens. The other LED projectors I linked are 500 lumens.

u/Squ4d13 · 3 pointsr/boardgames

I ran into a similar situation with the player boards for Eclipse and again for Zombicide. In the end, I did purchased my own Thermal Laminator and some extra Thermal Laminating Pouches for this specific purpose. Keep in mind, that the player boards for Eclipse did require the larger A3 Thermal Laminating Pouches though. I am pleased with the results, and I can assure that it has already saved my collection from bent edges and scratches. This was also a nice addition to my own custom player boards that I printed off for Zombicide as well.

u/jabancroft · 1 pointr/mac

Most remotes should work with a Mac, unless they're doing something fancy. They usually just emulate a USB HID (keyboard), and send key presses when you push the buttons (left, right, F5, Esc., etc.).

I use and love this one on my Mac:

Keyspan by Tripp Lite PR-PRO3 Presentation Remote Pro Wireless w Laser, Mouse, Audio Controls

It has the usual controls, plus a little track point, laser, volume and scroll controls, and a handy "blank screen" button.

If you're using it with PowerPoint, you have to set a keyboard shortcut on your Mac to map the F5 key to "Start Presentation", because that's the key PowerPoint uses. Other than that, everything "just works".

I did quite a bit of research on these before I bought this one. It's not as pretty or slick as some of the other ones, and doesn't have some of the fancy bells and whistles, but it's excellent at what it does, and that's what I was after. I highly recommend it.

u/jfalc0n · 1 pointr/Vive

As far as the keyboard goes, I think some of the desktop solutions like Envelop allow you to use your computer's webcam to view your keyboard. As far as the mouse solution goes, I think using a ring mouse might be interesting, although I tend to think it may get confused once you're facing different directions. Might be interesting to try though.

u/Jessie_James · 1 pointr/Frugal

Don't rule out projectors. For the size of the screen, they can be a fantastic savings and an stunning experience. Check this one out:

http://www.amazon.com/Optomas-ML500-Lumen-Mobile-Projector/dp/B00556F9I2/ref=wl_it_dp_o_npd?ie=UTF8&coliid=I3LIEZ1N2SFZK7&colid=XMY72CFYTS4J

It's about the same cost as a 42" TV. The drawback is that they are not great in bright rooms during the day, but at night ... well, let me say that everyone who sees ours is blown away. Watching anything else is like trying to watch TV on a cell phone. You will never go back.

Come to the dark side!

u/bgoines · 3 pointsr/tabletopgamedesign

You can use clear laminating card sheets in a laminator without anything in them. That will create a thick, clear plastic card. You can add stickers or write on it.

You can also write inside the laminate sheet with a marker before you laminate it solid.

https://www.amazon.com/Laminating-3-70-Inches-Business-100-Pack-TP5851-100/dp/B00GYDTV5M/ref=mp_s_a_1_12?keywords=scotch+laminating+sheets&qid=1550945016&s=gateway&sr=8-12

These are 2.3"x3.7". Almost regular playing card size.

u/ScarletJBun · 1 pointr/sticker

Hey thanks for replying! So I’ve tried about 3 vinyl paper in which all three harbor the same results, “Cricut Vinyl Paper”, PPD Inkjet Glossy Creative Vinyl Stickers , and Neato Blank White Full Sheet Printable Labels .
I’ve tried 2 laminates, XFasten and StyleTech

All can be found on amazon

u/CrimsonKing1990 · 1 pointr/dndnext

These ones. I'm pretty sure I let the wet-erase dry more than long enough over the permanent ink, but it doesn't come off unless I pretty much scrape it off with my nail.

There are Bluetooth presenter devices like this...
Satechi Bluetooth Smart Pointer Mobile Presenter and Remote Control for iPhone X, 8 Plus, 8, iPad, Samsung Galaxy S8, MacBook Pro/Air and more (Black) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A3WRM5G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_t-8cAbB6PBKSS

But the iPad lightning USB camera adapter will allow you to use almost any standard clicker with keynote and PowerPoint. I’ve used Logitech’s, Kensington’s, and PerfectCues plugged straight into the iPad.

u/ClearlyInsane1 · 1 pointr/applehelp

Since there are no USB-C receiver presentation remotes available yet your best bet will most likely be one that uses Bluetooth.

The Siri remote has bluetooth:
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205329

I agree with not using a phone for it. They won't have tactile buttons and you will have to look at it frequently to press the correct button. It may also go to sleep/lock right when you need it.

Specialized presentation remotes are cool too (they have laser pointers):
https://www.amazon.com/Satechi®-Bluetooth-Pointer-Presenter-Control/dp/B00A3WRM5G

u/nerdycanuck · 5 pointsr/Fantasy

No problem..! I got mine for a good price on amazon a couple years back and even after laminating countless bookmarks and board game materials, it's still going strong:
https://www.amazon.ca/Swingline-Inspire-Thermal-Laminator-1701855/dp/B004FM76BK/ref=mp_s_a_1_19?ie=UTF8&qid=1535809245&sr=8-19&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=Laminator

u/ceeeKay · 6 pointsr/DungeonWorld

I got an inexpensive Swingline laminator and a pack of 100 sheets for Christmas last year.

Since I got into Dugeon World I've gone a little nuts, laminating the entire set of playsheets so players can use dry-erase on them. Also did some index cards for random notes, map tiles, etc.

A technique I've found I really like is using sharpie for semi-permanent stuff. You can erase it by coloring over it with a dry-erase marker. The sharpie then wipes right off.

You could easily use dry erase or sharpie to get a similar effect with item cards like this. Even the lore could have some words or phrases "obfuscated" until the player spouts lore, etc.

u/ewleonardspock · 2 pointsr/techsupport

You're looking for a presentation remote with a built in mouse like this.

u/[deleted] · 1 pointr/gadgets

I just picked up the ML500. It's an LED projector and it's fantastic. No need to replace bulbs or anything. I'm never buying a TV again.

u/phareth · 2 pointsr/reloading

I would think you want a turret for each caliber you are going to reload.

I could be wrong though, I'm not familiar with this press.
You also need a scale. This is what I use:
Digital Scale

You also need some sort of media separator

These are just examples, you should shop around for the best price.

You’d be surprised how handy a laminator comes in and they’re cheap.

Just over $30 and you can laminate whatever you want.
