I have a few pairs of these locking dental pliers, the kind they use to put the rubber bands on braces. They have small jaws and two locking states. Very, very useful for removing supports (and lots of other things as well). Tiny-jawed locking pliers are really useful.

I have medical-grade ones, but they're expensive. I found some on Amazon that are pretty cheap, though I haven't tried them to judge their quality:
