Yup. I've had it on since around Christmas. Love it so far...here's my few gripes.
Otherwise, I have no issues or regrets whatsoever. Very happy camper. Obviously, YMMV with CarPlay, but I think you'll be just as happy.

Here are the parts I ordered (aside from the unit itself)
There are ways to retain the bluetooth and steering wheel button functionality with an aftermarket head unit using something like the PAC-SWI. There are guides at clubwrx, NASIOC and IWSTI if you go into the audio portion of the forums. Lots of DIY guides to help you out on there. I'd swap it all out if it were me.
I owned a 2007 Freestyle, the base SEL model, and it had steering wheel audio controls. So that's not the difference. What the Limited model does have over the base model is an amp and subwoofer, and you'll need a bunch of extra pieces to get that all to work because it complicates the wiring. You can definitely do better than $300.
Although I never did change out the factory radio in mine (we traded the vehicle in before the CD changer died for good) the dash kit is the same for many Ford vehicles of that era, a Scosche FD1424B for single DIN or FD1426B for double DIN. $12-$14 on Amazon.
A PAC SWI-RC adapter is needed if you change your mind about the steering wheel controls. https://www.amazon.com/PAC-SWI-RC-Steering-Control-Interface/dp/B004HKBY8G/ - $32
Not sure exactly what harness you need, but I'm sure somebody else will chime in.
