I pay about $285 a month for full coverage with RBC. 2016 VW Golf

There's really a few reasons why our insurance is way higher than other provinces. For example in NS you can get a similar policy for less than half. My sister pays $110/month for full coverage on a $15,000 car in NS at 22 years old. Back to why it costs so much in NL :

(1) No Soft Tissue Injury Caps

Your neck hurts? You get rare ended and it's not your fault? Wait a year, play the game, and get $15,000 or a nice sum of money. Unfortunately, people forget that the more claims we have the higher insurance is for everyone. The government has yet to instate caps like other provinces, but there is a Consultation by Service NL to my knowledge. If you want to complain email Minister Hon. Sherry Gambin-Walsh. I will happily write an official letter on behalf of this sub.

(2) Claiming Rural Address When Living In St. John's

A lot of people that live in St. John’s and have family outside the city use that address for insurance. Is this insurance fraud? I mean, probably. Do lots of people do it? Yeah.

Exactly as you mentioned, any rural area will have way cheaper insurance (like half the cost). When people from outside St. John's use their rural address but live in St. John’s they are not actually paying a premium for their risk level. People driving on a one Road Town vs Columbus Drive in rush hour traffic with our quality drivers, is well a little more risky. Multiply this by the amount of people under paying their premiums and all of a sudden we have created a local situation where the insurance company pays out way more of its premiums collected. These rates are some of the highest nationally. Thus they have to increase premiums for everyone. (I personally know 3 people that use their outside St. John's address that have been in accidents and have soft tissue claims. One of which is an elected official.). Typically, the government likes to show the average insurance rate by province but this will be skewed by very low rural rates. Try looking at the median lol.

(3) Soft Tissue Claims

Soft Tissue Claims are very profitable for lawyers. There are a ton of them. Ask Rogers Rogers Moyse, Bussey Horwood, O'Dea Earle, etc. I would love to hear a lawyers pov if there are any on this sub! I have heard personally from layers on both sides, some that represent the insurance company and some that represent the individual. If you had a payout of $15,000 and the law firm gets 25% you’re doing pretty good when you consider the volume of claims. You know it must be a good business considering that law firms here specialize on injury (usually most law firms are fairly generalist in city's our size.)

(4) Insurance Tax

We tax all insurance as of last year at 15%.

(5) History of Accidents

AKA RISK RATED. Generally if your risk rated (like me) because of car accidents (rare ended a jeeps toe hitch at 2km/hr and they claimed $15,000 in soft tissue) in the last 7 or 10 years or have a lot of tickets for going 170 on the ORR at 2am in a tinted Civ your insurance will go up.

My advice, go 110KM/Hr and buy a car that cops don’t like to pull over/give them a reason to pull you over (the tint). Plus you will have lots of money left to by One Million by Paco Rabanna, now being sold at a discounted Avalon Mall Sears near you. xox

The Positive! Discounts

(1) Check for Discounts
If you go to CONA or MUN, are part of a group (Registered Nurse, CPA, CMA), part of a union, etc.

(2) Email the Government
I will even do up an official letter if someone wants to start a change.org petition. Lol. DM me.

(3) Avoid Making any Claims
(glass included). My $100 glass came cost me $600 extra per year in insurance. Hence what brought me to this sub tonight.

Sincerely, as always,

I know a little about this so maybe my opinion will help. Just take it grain of salt because cologne can be a little different on everybody.

Honestly I don't like any of the colognes you pick that much but if you get any of these the Di Gio is the best.

This is Eau De Toilette which essential means it's a lighter fragrance that won't last quite as long, still you're not meant to bathe in it and personally it lasts me the whole day. I get a compliment every time I where it and that's basically everyday. THIS

Also THIS smells great, on par with the one above just a little stronger.

Both of these are are fresh and smell really clean. If you have a store near by that you can get samples from I would stop in and see if you like one of these.

Also if you don't already know the way you put on cologne is super important in regards to how it smells and how long it lasts. Always put it directly on your skin and don't rub it like it set till it drys by itself. And out of preference I put cologne on my wrists and the back of my neck (One so when I walk past people they can smell it, and two because if someone (girls) hug me they will smell my cologne.
