I have a seat cover for the back seat and it works great because it's waterproof. Our puppy has thrown up in the car a few times and I was sooo happy I had the seat cover. We also use a harness that clips to the seatbelt. You have to buy a piece that clips from the harness to the seatbelt separately, or just rig some way to tie the harness to the seat, like through those child seat mount thingies. The seat cover actually has velcro slots in the seat area to slip a harness connector or seatbelt through it. I found it at Marshall's in the pet section for less money than amazon.
