This hu features everything you want except nav will be handled by your phone through android auto (better nav anyway). You'll also get a lot better sound out of a quality hu. It's $450 currently but I'm sure sure can find one for like $350 on ebay (probably no warranty on ebay). Hu are one of those things that you keep for years, you may be saving a couple bucks now but you're gonna regret it when it breaks eventually.

it definitely behaves like its capacitive.

I don't know of any specific places for 4100 screen experience. I suggest you search Amazon's reviews (4.3/5 stars) on resistive:

  • Don't let the resistive touch screen fool you. It's very responsive considering it's not capacitive. Sure, you can tell a difference but it's not so bad that you'll want to shoot yourself. For instance, scrolling requires a minimal amount of pressure. And on the plus side, you can wear gloves and still operate this unit if you're in cold climate.
  • Screen is very responsive for a resistive unit.
  • The resistive touch-screen works great. I like the pinch-n-zoom functionality in the Maps screen of Android Auto.

The removable screen is awesome, worth getting the cheaper 4100 for it instead of the capacitive non-removable screen on the 8100.

If you have an Android phone this unit uses AndroidAuto. Which runs google maps app from your phone. always stays up to date. I have it. And for $500 you will not find anything else better.

I used the Pioneer AVH-4100NEX In-Dash Multimedia DVD Receiver with 7" WVGA Touchscreen Display https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SKJPKGW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_ADrFAbA878317 from Amazon and BLACK ABS PLASTIC SHEET CAR INTERIOR to cut to fill the gaps. It’s doesn’t look bad in my opinion.

Other parts used MicroBypass Parking Brake Switch, Metra Electronics 40-NI12 Antenna Cable to Aftermarket Radio Adapter for Select 2007-Up Infiniti/Nissan Vehicles, Metra Axxess ASWC-1 Universal Steering Wheel Control Interface, Metra 70-7552 Radio Wiring Harness For Nissan 2007-Up/Select Subaru 2008-Up

Sorry I am on mobile and the link wouldn’t work. I hope this all helps.

Thanks very much for the help, though I have to admit i didn't fully understand but I'm sure the techs you suggested will know the ins and outs. I think I've found a deck I like, what do you think?
