You've got the right idea, but I wouldn't choose that amp or cable. Amp looks a bit flimsy.

I'd start by looking through craigslist/thrift stores for a cheap receiver, it'll be much higher quality and generally beefier. Failing that, the Lepai 2020 is popular but might not have enough power, so maybe this Pyle. But really, finding a receiver is the thing to do. You can usually pick up an older Sony or Denon or something and it'll work great (and have more power and channels to boot).

For cable, I'd head down to your local hardware store and get some zip cord (also known as lamp cord). It's cheap and sufficient for your purposes.

It's not too difficult. Although, if you can get a hold of a Chromecast audio, it would be ideal. I know they stopped selling them though. You can hook the speaker wires to something like this, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0071HZ5EQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_qoaPCb7EYPDP0, and then attach a Chromecast audio.

what about an amp w/reciever options?
I like the muse but what's your opinion on the Pyle PFA200?

Hey guys!
My girlfriend is a music lover and her birthday is coming up so I wanted to surprise her with a new turntable. Her old Crosley turntable crapped out recently after only one year of use.

I am a complete newbie when it comes to this kind of stuff, but after doing a bit of research these are the items I have decided on.

Audio Technica At-LP60BK Turntable

Micca MB42 Bookshelf Speakers

The main issue I am having is picking an amplifier. It seems that I would need one in order to properly connect the turntable and speakers. These are the two I am looking at now, but I'm not sure if they are compatible with my set up or will have enough power. Any recommendations on which one I should pick? My budget is pretty tight.

I would appreciate any help, thank you :)

Thanks for the response!

Say I don't need a sub. How would these speakers work with this amp sound?

Pretty sure these are what I got and I'll be honest this was grandparents of SO doing an awesome favour/present so priority was set to affordability and not quality. I can't promise these are great.

With this for an amp

Definitely needs a sub if you want real bass but from what I've experienced they are clear and have good volume I'm listening to em right now.

edit: i guess thats amazon.ca by the way and those monitors were going for eighty last year and the grandparents might have gotten free shipping through amazon premium come to think of it sorry

Thank you gents for the suggestions this was exactly the kick I needed. As I looked into amplifiers for the usb soundcards it seemed almost simpler to strap a small mp3 player to a cheap amp and remove power to the amp when outside show time.

This would let me put these bundles at each diorama and get rid of all the cables strewn around the property. At the same time I could now get sound where it wasn't possible before. For a first kick at parts I was thinking something like:

Audio player + Amplifier
With power supplies where necessary and the like I should be able to replace a cd player for ~50-60$. Huzzah!
