you don't have to buy a set of knifes. you need one for basically chopping, slicing etc. you kneed a paring knife. and right now that is about it.

you need a casserole dish these fit the bill

you need an 8 or 9" skillet for small things grilled cheese, an egg or two sausage for breakfast etc..

and a 10" for larger things 3 to 4 chicken breasts, etc. I would go with non stick for on both skillets for now. Ikea has a great selection for pretty cheap. You want a good heavy solid bottom this will keep the heat at a more even level across the pan and usually will not create the massive hot spots that thin pans will.

you will need a pair of two of tongs something like this

you will need a pancake turner, 2 or more serving spoons, slotted spoons. a whisk or two,

a small saucepan for a can of veggies or 1 cup of rice etc.

and one maybe something like this one

you should look for a Dutch oven of some sort to make pot roast or cook a small pot of soup etc..

If you watch for a sale the lodge enamel coated cast iron Dutch ovens will go on sale at walmart, sams and sometimes costco.

Ikea also has some inexpensive ones.

baking sheet or two. a muffing pan if you like to make cupcakes or muffins. etc.
