Great questions!

The GPU in the laptop is embedded: Intel HD Graphics 620

In terms of the specs of the CPU and GPU.. How would I check the CPU? (I'll have to do this when I get home). All I know is this is the link to my laptop: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01L3EXAC6/ref=emc_b_5_i

I believe this is the link to the CPU: https://ark.intel.com/products/95451/Intel-Core-i7-7500U-Processor-4M-Cache-up-to-3_50-GHz-

The external GPU is this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XH2P8DD/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

(EVGA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti FOUNDERS EDITION GAMING, 11GB GDDR5X, LED, DX12 OSD Support (PXOC) Graphic Cards 11G-P4-6390-KR)

Does that help?

You hit the nail on the head. You have to also remember, a lot of 'users' are exposed to mobile gaming. This in turn makes it look like tablets will be able to play games. It is very misleading to say the least but this is the world now.

Here are some options:

  1. Alienware

  2. Dell Inspiron 13 (Although this link shows unavailable, this model is the previous and I have used this one in the past mainly for programming and web development but works well with games) (XPS models are considered the higher end but not necessarily better.)

  3. Razer blade

My recommendation from which of the above will vary based on your usage.

  4. uses a GTX 1070, you'll pretty much get what you pay for, and it's a lot but you won't miss much if you wonder what a desktop PC would do compared to this one. Also, Alienware machines have heat issues. I haven't used this particular model but hopefully they've improved.

  5. Good for gaming in addition to doing other tasks like programming or office use. Has touch screen.

  6. This one is strictly for gaming and aesthetics. If you game in the dark, the keyboard will be really useful as you can adjust the color scheme. Easy on the eyes. Also, I cannot recall at the moment but razer blades have a limit of ONE drive, yes, just one so you probably shouldn't get this if you are planning to store a ton of files AND gaming. But again, mileage varies. There are also others in this screen category but these are the only ones I have personally used in the past, minus the exact version of #1.

If you absolutely have to get a 11.5 then I would go with this HP ProBook 11 because it comes with Full HD Screen, 4 GB of ram for somewhat good multi tasking, dual core 6th gen powerful i3 CPU and 11.5 inch like you wanted, if you can push the screen size to 12.5 then I would recommend either this ASUS ZenBook 3 or this Razer Blade Stealth as both comes with powerful 7th gen dual core i7, 16 GB of ram, 512 GB of SSD and 12.5 inch screen, both considered high end with high price point.
