I expect you'll have the same problem as the original unit. But it's cheaper and quicker to do it yourself each time than sending it off to Nintendo. Here's a listing for $12 for two of them on Amazon, prime shipping.

It's not too bad. I did this a few weeks ago. Some kits come with the screwdrivers too. Definitely better than replacing both like all these other millionaires are suggesting.

Answering my own question, now that I'm home and can check YouTube.

At around the 4:00 mark, you can see the sticks pretty clearly in this Taki Udon video. They're not as short as I thought they were. They're basically a slightly more compact looking version of the Adafruit stick.

I think, if I /really/ want L3 and R3, the lowest profile off-the-shelf part is probably the Nintendo Joy-Con thumb stick. But I think the easiest to solder will be the PSP 1000 series stick.
