Just bought this, I want to start recording memories now, even though they might not be amazing quality: http://www.amazon.com/Ricoh-Theta-Digital-Camera-Black/dp/B014US3FQI

Originally I shot this as a moving video. But it was too hard to edit the video without big jumps in the focus. So that is why it ended up being a bunch of still images slide show together. Next time I want it to be full video.

The camera used was a Ricoh Theta S here's the amazon review it has a lot more info than their own site, especially the Q&A section http://amzn.to/2fYw9Zk

Why would you say that? The Theta S is definitely 360. So is the Gear 360 which is slightly larger.

Based on the shadow in the video, I'm guessing the Ricoh Theta S. [Amazon]

The Ricoh S Theta is a great 360 camera to start out with that doesn't require a Samsung phone. The price has gone down over the past year as well. I've taken 360 photos with both the Theta and the Gear 360 and the quality of the photos taken with both are about the same.

I really don't get it anymore. I have said it before that people have skewed expectations of VR, and I will say it again.

A VR headset is primarily a display device. Saying you want more content for it is a bit like saying you want more content for your monitor. Yea, sure, it would be great to have more content directly geared towards VR (and that will come), but there is a huge amount of content already that is not related to gaming. There are 360 degree videos or the possibility to watch movies or 3D movies in VR for example. There's VR chat or Bigscreen. Or you can make your own content: http://www.amazon.com/Ricoh-Theta-Digital-Camera-Black/dp/B014US3FQI/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1463788334&sr=1-4

Nobody ever said that VR is for gaming only, just like nobody ever said that your monitor is for gaming only - and I doubt you use it only for gaming. If I thought VR was only about gaming, I definitely would not have ordered a Vive, at least not in the current situation with the unsurprising lack of software. I only ordered it, because there are use cases going beyond games and even beyond passive content consumption but into active content creation.
