64GB cards are $20 now. I bought a Samsung Evo one from Amazon (Shipped and Sold).

> I'm new to all of this, and I have zero experience with coding/programing/etc.

Do not feel intimidated. This isn't difficult. It'll take some time and patience, but it's very rewarding getting your system up and running.

> I was thinking of getting an all in one kit like this oneIs there any downside to this?

Do not buy that over-priced garbage. The biggest gripe to the kit is the unknown PSU, and small/generic memory card.

What you'll need:

u/Envoke · 2 pointsr/3dshacks

I needed something on the cheap end when I first got my 3DS, so I picked up one of these guys: https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-32GB-microSDHC-Memory-Package/dp/B003WGJYCY/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1481729298&sr=8-5&keywords=Sandisk+micro+SD+card+32GB

32GB is pretty significant, and since I buy all my games digitally, I'm able to have 8-9 games on the DS without any issue, sometimes more if I'm going back and playing an older game. Fire Emblem Awakening + DLC, Fates +DLC, Monster Hunter 4/Generations and a couple other bigger games were always on the card with 20k+ blocks to spare.

If you need something, or want something a little larger; https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-micro-Memory-Tablets-All-New/dp/B013TMNKAW/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1481729403&sr=8-5&keywords=Sandisk+micro+SD+card+64GB I've had great luck with the Sandisk 64GB HC in other electronics (I have one in an adapter in my PSP.)

If you're not a fan of SanDisk, or want to stick with a bigger brand, Samsung makes some great MicroSD cards as well, specifically this which I just picked up for my work cell phone; https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Select-Memory-MB-ME64DA-AM/dp/B01DOB6YQA/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1481729493&sr=1-1&keywords=samsung+micro+sd+card

Since writing my suggestions below I have found another dashcam that features buffered parking mode and is reasonably priced. It is the Thinkware TW-X350H which comes with a included hardwiring kit. In addition, right now there is a $50 coupon discount which brings the price to $128.97. So the total cost for what you need would be as follows:

Dashcam with Hardwiring kit $128.97

64GB microsd memory card $17.99

Add-a-fuse $3.00

TOTAL COST $149.96

I believe that camera is the MF3. It wasn’t a good seller for VicoVation because it’s specs and price were too close to the Opia2. For some reason they renamed it the OS3 and are selling it only outside the US. I think they cut the price as well.
I would avoid the Lexar card. I have heard too many users having issues when them as of late. Go with the Transcend or the Samsung EVO Select (green and white in color).

u/ExplosiveTortuga · 2 pointsr/Piracy

Of course! So if you're ordering a new ds chances are it will be running an unexploitable firmware (I can't be 100% sure about that though because I'm pretty new to 3ds hacking myself, I would suggest checking out /r/3dshacks and looking into installing arm9loaderhax and be sure not to bring up piracy there). Assuming you're firmware needs to be downgraded to be exploited, you will likely need to perform a hardmod. There are many online guides for this but unless you are highly experienced with soldering circuitboards (like I am not) I would strongly suggest you stay away from it. Since I was in the same situation I'm describing, I sought out a user by the name of /u/pbanj_. This guy is a long time contributor to the /r/3dshacks community. You can read his post about his hardmod service here. TL;DR: if you are in the US you can send him your system and $45 and he'll get everything set up for you, no hassle. Just make sure you follow his instructions in that post very carefully. You can contact him through pm. I would expect you to be skeptical of his service because I was too but I just got my system back today and everything is absolutely perfect, the system looks and runs exactly as before. Also, he's really fast about getting it sent back to you and his price is the best I was able to find. I highly recommend him. Anyway, once you get your system back, you can visit [google "3ds freeshop"] and [google "3ds title keys"] and follow this video to get everything set up. The only slight deviation I had to make from that tutorial was instead of putting the encTitleKeys.bin in the freeShop folder he tells you to make, I had to put it in 3ds/data/freeShop I believe (although if that is wrong, the freeshop app will tell you where it needs to go when you open it). From there, all you need to do is go into the freeShop app, search for the game you want, and hit download. I don't know if every single physical copy game is on there but I just downloaded a ton of games and I didn't find a single one that wasn't on there. If you follow the same steps as me, it is basically foolproof. It's cheap, quick, and you won't get banned even if you play those downloaded games online. You can also download a ton of other homebrew applications from there (/r/3dshacks will be a great resource for this part). The only other expense would be getting a nice, sizable sd card to hold all your new games. This is the one I got. I'd recommend going for the 64gb because it can hold (obviously) twice as much as a 32gb and is going to have faster load times than a 128gb. So that is, in maybe more detail than you would like, the entire process I went through. It may seem complicated but it's actually quite simple. Again, /r/3dshacks is a great resource but don't mention anything related to piracy there. Let me know if you have any other questions. Hope this helps!

edit: I originally thought this was a pm so I removed some direct links so this post doesn't get removed. You should still be able to find everything pretty easily though.

edit 2: a word

u/PureNintendoHype · 2 pointsr/3DS

Any data that's on the SD card RIGHT NOW that the 3DS itself can read successfully can also be successfully read by your PC for the transfer. My advice is to stop using the SD card immediately to preserve as much data as possible.

I recommend this series of cards, but anything sold by Amazon.com itself will work fine:

I was planning on picking this up. I'm like several people in here who plan on mainly dealing with physical copies of games.

u/iPhone2Android · 1 pointr/RetroPie

It's better to buy the parts separately. You'll need the following:

The Pi, obviously:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CMC50S0?pldnSite=1

A MicroSDXC Card if you don't already have one:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DOB6YQA?pldnSite=1

A power supply:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MZX466R/ref=s9_acsd_hps_bw_c_x_1_w

A USB Keyboard if you don't have one lying around:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06WWDMZQL?pldnSite=1

Controllers - there's tons to choose from. Depending on which games you plan on playing. If you want to do 8-bit and 16-bit games, an SNES style controller is probably best, that would work for obviously SNES, but Genesis or NES games as well. If you don't mind wires, go with the Buffalo SNES USB Controller. If you want to go wireless, go with 8Bitdo. The 8Bitdo also gives you few more options in terms of colors, so you get get one that looks like an American SNES controller with the purple buttons, an international SNES controller with rainbow buttons, an NES style controller with an SNES button layout, etc. Just don't cheap out, you'll see some SNES USB controllers on Amazon for dirt cheap, but they're terrible. Either get the Buffalos or the 8BitDos, or if you have an original SNES controller, you can get an USB adapter for it.

For Playstation or N64 games and anything newer, you would need a controller with more buttons and analog sticks. Again, you have tons of options, you can get Dualshock, X-Box 360, or Wii U Pro controllers, plus Logitech has some controllers that also have the right amount of buttons. These controllers can also be used for older games if you only want one set of controllers.

As for the case, you have tons of options, just search Amazon and see what case fits your style. Just be sure it fits the Pi 3.

Oh, and finally, you'll also need an HDMI cable if you don't have one.

Once you get all that, setting it up is rather easy. It seems intimidating, but I'm a total newbie when it comes to tech stuff, and I was able to get mine up and running without any major hiccups. If I could do it, I'm sure you could. It is pretty easy if you just follow instructions. And if you get lost and need help, you can always post on Reddit and someone will be willing to help out.

This one seems to be faster and cheaper. Anyone know why? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DOB6YQA/ref=psdc_3015433011_t1_B00IVPU7AO

Edit: also I bought that card for $35.78 January of 2015 so the 'list' price is bullshit.

u/Targren · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

23.95 for me too.

This one is 17.99 though.

You could see if he has any filters. Need to know the exact Phantom he has, though.

A high speed micro SD card is always handy. Not too expensive. Get 32 or 64GB, class 10.

u/alphalightningbolt · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

I think so, the games will be on the game cards, so it should only be patches, save files, and screenshots saved on the console itself.

Evo+ is just a line of SD cards from Samsung that are well reviewed. The 64GB version was 20 bucks on amazon, which I thought was a good thing to have just for possible future use. Here's the link to it if you're interested https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Select-Memory-MB-ME64DA-AM/dp/B01DOB6YQA/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1484454883&sr=1-2&keywords=micro+sd+card

I love this guy https://smile.amazon.com/Samsung-Select-Memory-MB-ME64DA-AM/dp/B01DOB6YQA/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1484521161&sr=1-1&keywords=micro+sd+evo+64

It's not the fastest, but it is still fast and $20 is a great price for 64GB.

This is what I use in my n3ds and I'll be phasing all my SD cards to evo selects this year probably.

How's [this?](Samsung 64GB 80MB/s EVO Select Micro SDXC Memory Card (MB-ME64DA/AM) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DOB6YQA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_r8fFybADNEZ22)

u/Vap0r3on · 1 pointr/NintendoSwitch

Nope, a SDXC card will do just fine with all the games. as long as you have one of those you will be fine.

https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Select-Memory-MB-ME64DA-AM/dp/B01DOB6YQA/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1485121518&sr=1-1&keywords=samsung+sd+card

this is a link to some good and cheap SDXC cards, they are water, Temprature, magnet, and x-ray proof( and best of all, same retail price as competing brands)

So don't worry about write and read speeds as long as it is SDXC
