Typically you would refer to this as storage. Generally, "memory" refers to RAM which in the case of the PS3 is non-upgradeable. That said, the PS3 maxes out at 1.5TB. You should get this one:

Even though you already have a 1TB drive in it, you could always upgrade to this drive. Its 1.5TB, the largest capacity 2.5” internal hdd you can use for the for the PS3. Of course you’ll probably fill it up fairly quickly since you’ve had PS+ for years. It would be nice if the PS3 supported external storage like the PS4 does. so far I’ve yet to fill my hdd as I’ve only had PS+ for a year or so and I’ve got more physical titles than digital but I know it’ll happen one day.
If I'm remembering correctly from my hard drive hunt a little over a year ago, the maximum size of hard drive you can install on a PS3 is 1.5TB. For some reason the 2TB hard drives don't work. You need something that is 9.5mm or thinner as well. This is a good option for the 1TB (which is what I went with) and this is a good option for the 1.5TB. And seeing as how the 1.5TB is only $7 more expensive.....
Hi! Sorry to disappoint you, but I did not end up getting this hard drive. Instead I went with this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KY9M6FY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
it's only 1.5tb but it's cheaper and 100% guaranteed to work. I've had 0 issues with it, sorry I can't answer your question!

I bought that one I believe!
I'd do it ASAP just so you don't have to reinstall whatever games you get in the future. If you have a lot of games, definitely get a 1tb drive. I got a 5400RPM 1tb Toshiba drive for 46 bucks: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XGQRGY4/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_UHqazbE2XDXN7. There are also 1.5tb drives (the maximum that a PS3 can address): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KY9M6FY/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_oMqazbC5EZE3E
Do you know the serial code/item number for the hdd? Also by refub do you mean you took it out of a laptop or what?

Sorry for the huge link, but is this one acceptable?
