Not so sure it can destroy ANY light source. I would try a powerful LED flashlight:

I have two of these. Not huge, but LOTS of light for their size, and not very costly...no "bulbs" to shatter. The LED emitters are very robust, and pretty much indestructible. Plus, the three 18650 Lithium batteries are also the best and most reilable now available.


Baring that, how about a super bright GREEN Tactical LED Laser pointer:

This little guy is more costly, but a GREEN 532nm wavelength LED Laser is about the brightest thing you can get (multitudes of brightness beyond red lasers). This thing will go 100 meters during DAYLIGHT....and one MILE in darkness. More than enough to reach out and touch "something".

Get one or the other (or both!) and use them with Dan around to witness the effect. One of these two will put a lot of light on the "subject" at hand....
