You'd be able to play the Game Gear or Master System versions, yeah. Not the Genesis versions.
Unless you're really wanting it to be something that fits on a keychain, I'd recommend this instead:

It has all the Sonic games from the Genesis plus basically all of the other popular games from the console, you can load ROMs if there are games you want that aren't already on it, and it's an officially licensed product. It's also a bit cheaper and is available right now. That said, it won't play any Nintendo games.
