Sex has been used by religions to control people (and make some money) for so long. The rules or morals or whatever changed many times and it was often to meet the needs of the men making the decisions.
It's been a couple of years since I read it so I don't recall all of the details, but if you're interested I highly recommend the book "Sex and Punishment: 4000 Years of Judging Desire". It, and it's follow-up that addresses the last 100 years or so, do a great job of tracking how we got to this point.

(I'm not the author and I have no vested interest in anyone buying this. It's just a good book.)
For what I think, I'm like someone else who already said something like this: I live my life and I don't hurt anyone. That seems sufficient to me. I don't think God cares who I have sex with any more than I think God cares what I or anybody else is wearing.
I have The Rape of Europa in my wishlist because I have a degree in art history and it still interests me.
The Sociopath Next Door is also on there because I recently read The Psychopath test and felt that while it was a decent intro to the topic, it didn't go as in depth as I wanted.
The last one is Sex and Punishment, because I thought it looked interesting.

the “raging frenzy” of the sex drive, to use Plato’s phrase, has always defied control. However, that’s not to say that the Sumerians, Victorians, and every civilization in between and beyond have not tried, wielding their most formidable weapon: the law. At any given point in time, some forms of sex were condoned while others were punished mercilessly. Jump forward or backward a century or two (and often far less than that), and the harmless fun of one time period becomes the gravest crime in another. Judging Desire tells the story of the struggle throughout the millennia to regulate the most powerful engine of human behavior.
