That depends on the type of tip.

All foam tips + silicone tips in this style do not get inserted "all the way", doing so will definitely produce bad sound and probably be uncomfortable. These types of tips are meant to seal in/around the part of the ear just outside the external auditor canal. The red area is where the tip should be. no further. Getting a seal with this type of tip can be challenging, because most parts of the external ear vary a lot from person to person. This is why foam tips come with a ton of different sizes.

On the other hand, flanged silicone tips are meant to go "all the way in" to a degree. These types of tips should fill the area indicated here. This type of tip is offered in far fewer sizes because there is a lot more consistency in the size of peoples external auditory canal.



If you can't get a good seal with foam style tips, give the triple flanges a try. They will seal well, you just have to get used to the feeling. These triple flanges from Shure are great; they fit Shure, Westone, and some other IEMs.

A. Run them for a few hours to warm the drivers up. They'll change over time at first.

B. Main issue you're probably having is an improper seal. If you don't have these literally in the perfect sealed place you're going to miss half the frequencies and feel no bass. I personally hate the foam eartips but they give a great seal if you wiggle them down and let them expand in your ear. I personally hate the feeling and theyre impossible to get in and out easily. Silicone is the alternative but The silicon ones that come with the unit aren't great, they never fit my ear with a good seal. But yes every ear is different so try different tips and experiment with the foams first to see the best possible seal and how it'll sound like that.

This. I use a sena 20 with Shure SE215's plugged into the headset jack. Not sure why you need waterproof. I've ridden this setup in sprinkles and light rain without a problem. I switched out the 215 tips for these to provide a tighter seal.

No experience with those. I buy the ones from Shure. From the picture, it looks like the tube part is too big for the nozzle. Better safe than sorry. I usually replace them every couple months when they start to stain. I also wash them every week or so with soap and water.

They are one size fits all

I've been using these Shures for about 8 years now.

i use the 'triple flange' earbits though, i find they stay in my ears considerably better & block out wind/noise much more.

i usually run 5 miles a day during the summer & hit the treadmill/elliptical for at least an hour a day in the winter & sweat like an idiot.

Try switching the tips out for some that are either larger or smaller until you find something that fits. Alternately, get something like these if possible and trim them down to size.

EDIT: I find that they're good for isolation, and I don't need the volume turned way up. However, if you have a shallow ear canal, you may find them to be uncomfortable.

Just a heads up, my suggestion is going to be double the upper end of your budget. I'll give you my reasoning for it though, but TL;DR: I own them and love them.

These are made by Shure. I absolutely love them. I have had them for a few years now (3 going on 4). The sound quality is a huge step up from the earbuds that come with an iPod, and when paired with triple flange sleeves they block out an incredible amount of sound. They are also great for running and working out because they literally will not fall out of your ear.

Why would I would suggest paying 100 dollars for these? They last. If they break, Shure is a great company with really great customer service. I've returned older models to them on a few occasions, and each time they have sent me brand new earphones, not refurbished, but brand new, in retail packaging earphones. If they are out of warranty and Shure won't replace them, the cable is detachable and can be swapped out for pretty cheap (20 dollars or so). So lets say you buy a new pair of earphones every six months, which isn't too unreasonable. That's 40 dollars a year- in two and a half, you're breaking even with a pair of Shures. Getting 2.5 years out of them isn't unreasonable either. Add in how much better the sound quality is and I really think it's a good deal. Like I've said, I've had mine for going on four now and haven't had any problems with them yet.
