I want to nominate /u/LaLocaChristina because she is always gifting other people and even has her wishlist go to gifts for others. However I found this game on her other wishlist and I think she needs something for her to enjoy herself.

I usually lean towards less deep games for a game night, unless everyone there is 100% hardcore gamer. I think the BB card game would be best with a bunch of friends who know the IP.
Off-theme, but I usually recommend the game Skull or King of Tokyo. They're both great, whether the group is new to tabletop games or wants something lively with a competitive edge.

Kind of related, I love this sugar skull bluffing game.

Provided poker-style bluffing fits your definition of deception, Skull & Roses is a game perfect for bars because you can play it using beermats. Though not technically a drinking game, I will do my best to add drinks within the following rules:

1. Everyone take four beermats/coasters. Mark one as your Skull - you could draw a skull on it, but it could just as easily be an X or a black spot or a dick or whatever. The other three coasters are your Roses.
   
   
2. Start of round: Everyone put one of their beermats down in front of them on the table (marked/unmarked side down). Take a communal swig to celebrate the beginning of the round.
   
   
3. On your turn, either 1) PLACE another of your beermats on top of the last one you placed (& take a swig), or 2) BID a number of Roses you think you can flip.
   
   
4. Once someone BIDS, no one is allowed to PLACE any more coasters. Either BID more Roses than the player before you, or CALL their bid.
   
   
5. If your bid is called, you must flip all of the beermats in front of you (i.e. the ones you've played) first; after that, you can choose the top beermat of anyone's pile to flip. So if I have two coasters in front of me, and I get called on a bid of four, I have to flip my two coasters to reveal Roses, then choose the next two from the top coasters of all players' stacks.
   
   
6. If you successfully reveal the number of Roses you bid, without hitting a Skull, you get one point and whomever called you out has to chug down half their drink. If, at any point you reveal, a Skull from your own pile, chug half your drink and choose a beermat to lose. If you reveal a Skull from someone else's pile, chug half your drink and lose a random beermat.
   
   
7. Whether the attempt is successful or not, everyone takes back all the coasters in front of them, puts one back to set up for the next round, and do the whole thing again! Game ends at 2 points or when you can't drink any more.
   
   There's a commecially-produced version with nice skull & rose coasters, but it's currently out of print and therefore riotously expensive. The good news is, you can play with index cards, sticky notes, scrap paper, beermats, playing cards (red for roses, black for skulls)... anything, really.

I guess that it'd be okay if they brought their own games, but you should warn them about possible damage. Accidents happen.

  I heard about both games from Shut Up & Sit Down and I think both are really good party games (people can drop in and drop out) and I think it might work for the couch game or for a party bluffing game.

As far as worker placement, I should have added a caveat in original post that I acknowledge that workerplacement games are not normally direct and that I don't expect that.

Skull: Okay, so as the dice tower reviewer of it said, 24$ seems kinda steep for what it accomplishes, and its only up to 6 players, and the only time i want an easy party game is normally when I have 7+ people, so I'd need to get more than 1 set a of this version. If it came as a 12 person version i'd get it in a heart beat though. Also I question my need for more simple, small person party games after I already have resistance, and soon love letter and hannabi.

Jungle Speed: This one just doesn't interest me, even with the rather silly video, I prefer actual spoons more :D

And last but not least, Stone Age: Stone age intrigues me, the price is a bit pushy, but i expect that since it is a "big" game (like catan and eclipse). I like how it looks though! It looks like it'd fill that niche. But i've also been looking at lords of waterdeep, which flavor I like a bit more. Do you have a preference between the two?

I'm just going to hijack the thread and say what a great party game this is. I was at a party a few weeks ago with a fairly diverse crowd. I brought a few games with me with the thought of maybe suggesting one depending on the mood of the crowd (I didn't know many people, it the first time I hung with this group). After awhile the party was rolling, people were laughing and my wife suggested Skull would probably be fun. So I brought it out. No one else at the party had played before but if was quick to teach and we spent the next hour or hour and and a half howling with laughter. People floated in and out. The host caught me the next day and said he thought he needed to get a copy. #success :)

I do kind of wish the Asmodee version included enough cards for eight people as six is sometimes not enough for a party game. Maybe I just need to buy a second copy or, to OPs point, just make a custom edition.

(And yes, the other option is to just use playing cards but I think the art adds something to the gameplay).

How many players are you looking for? I love these exact types of games so I won't try to repeat any answers.

I recently got Piñata and have been enjoying it. 2 players, plays fairly quick (~30 min). Good mix of luck and strategy.

Agricola: All Creatures Big and Small is a fantastic 2 player game in a little box. All the fun of Agricola in a fraction of the time.

The Kosmos 2 player series all come in fairly small boxes. Look at Jambo (which I believe is now called Asante).

The Gryphon Games bookshelf series is another series of small, good games. Though of them I've only played (and love) Incan Gold. Like I said, I haven't played the others but I hear Roll Through the Ages and For $ale are the other 2 that are worth getting.

Lost Legacy is the spiritual successor to Love Letter. Might be worth checking out.

Skull is awesome! I think a reprint may be on the way, so don't pay more than $15 for it. If you can get your hands on it though, it's an awesome game.
