I have 2 Great Danes and I've found that their coats are not quite the same so the same brush can have different results. I really like the Zoom Groom (by Kong) for my Great Dane who is more prone to shedding. The yield can vary, but I typically can get lots of hair off. It doesn't work as well on my other Great Dane, but I think she has thinner hair. I haven't found anything that works great for her.

I have had some interest in this brush and it says it won't cut or damage the hair. People seem to like it.
