You're obviously experienced in building systems and it looks good to me. I won't nitpick brands or whatever.

About the FW card... After doing extensive research for an audio producer friend, the only card I found worth purchasing is a Sonnet Allegro FireWire 800 PCIe Card. It works natively without extra drivers and actually does have the power to handle multiple devices connected to it at once. Most other cards will not do that.

Thet GTX 980 will not work OOB. You'll need to install Nvidia's official web driver package to allow full usability of the card. If you don't need that much graphics power, stick with a 770 or 780 as they do work OOB.

The motherboard should be fairly simple to get working. Googling shows that lots of people have used this board with good results and Thunderbolt working.
