I'll try to keep tabs on everything but let me know if there are any errors or price updates. And as a side note, I'm actually getting downvotes for this? I can't see how there could possibly be a sane explanation for that.

EDIT: Updated 7:00pm EST!! Let me know if there's anything you see and I'll put it in here!

EDIT: I've put everything new as of Jan 11, 4:00pm in bold. Also, check this post on RedFlagDeals for a great big list of deal

EDIT: Its all over everyhone. Hope you snagged something cool beyond bitter disappointment this year!**

I can't add much experience to the mix but I used a pair of Sony's for the past three years - hard to go wrong with decent sound and good battery life / comfort for $125. They finally broke recently so I've been eyeing a pair of B&O Play H7's to use as a replacement for a slightly higher price point of $250. I can't speak to their quality beyond a few weekends of research so far, but hopefully that serves as a good starting point while we both wait for heavyweight feedback!

Budget - $100 USD, hard limit

Source - Fiio X1 mostly, sometimes an iPhone 7 (with adapter, of course), sometimes a Microsoft Surface 3

Requirements for Isolation - I don't really need active noise canceling, but a decent amount of isolation is preferred because the less I hear from outside, the less I have to turn up my volume.

Will you be using these Headphones in Public? - Yes

Preferred Type of Headphone - Over-ear

Preferred tonal balance - I probably lean basshead. Obviously I don't want more bass at the expense of mids or highs, though.

Past headphones - Loved my Sennheiser HD518's, sound-wise, but they were too bulky and uncomfortable. Hated my Sony MDRV6's -- sound did nothing for me, and again very uncomfortable. I love my Mee audio M6 Pro's for their sound, but IEM's aren't really my ideal setup.

Preferred Music - Lots of pop (mainly kpop), but I also listen extensively to metal as well as lighter rock.

What would you like to improve on from your set-up - My travel audio setup right now is just my Fiio X1 and the M6 Pro's. I need a decently portable over-ear pair that are comfortable to wear for extended periods (3+ hours at a time) and that provide that good bass while still having clear and detailed mids/highs.

I've got a few I'm looking at right now: this pair of Sony's (MDR XB950/H and MDR XB950B1, which I'm not even sure there's a difference between); the Sol Republic Master Tracks (which I've heard are incredibly comfortable. I wanted the XC version, but can't get them delivered in time); and the Sennheiser Momentum's (which I've heard great things about, sound-wise, but have no idea on comfort).

What does everyone think of the Sony deal?

u/Gus_Griswald · 2 pointsr/vancouver

Over ear headphones for the ultimate escape. I have some Sony Over ear ones I bought for $100 on sale. Not true noise cancelling but good enough

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01N5UVZBP/ref=emc_b_5_mob_i

Comfortable too

u/Not_Canadian2 · 2 pointsr/battlestations

Yep they are the Sony Mdr950s

u/gm92845 · 1 pointr/headphones

I actually have a pair of Sony MDR-V6s and the only thing that fell apart was the original ear pads. I just use a bluetooth adapter on my personal pair since I cable modded them and soldered a female 3.5mm headphone jack. But as for your recommendation I would go with these on Amazon

u/ThatGoodRobot · 1 pointr/headphones

Budget: $200

Source: iPod/PC

Isolation: I definitely want some isolation because I intend to use these on the bus/public transport, but it doesn't have to be absolute.

Type: Over ear is preferred

Tonal Balance: I like a bit more bass

Past Headphones: Cheap Panasonic/Sony earbuds

Preferred Music: Mostly metal, rock, and alternative rock

Additional: I'm thinking of going for Bluetooth/wireless

Some options I was considering are the Sony XB950B1, Sennheiser HD 598 Cs, and Sennheiser Urbanite XL.

Thanks!

I got these Sony XB950 cans "Certified Refurbished" for $80 (normally like $200) and I would have happily paid $200. They kick major ass. Got them Christmas of 2015, used them every single day for hours on commutes to and from university and work, in blizzard conditions, and they always just work. Super loud. Bass is nice bit not too stuffy. Media controls on ear. They may not be audiophile levels of sound quality, but for wireless cans they are extremely pleasing and comfortable for long durations at that.

Edit: looks like about $130 new now

u/zandm7 · 1 pointr/headphones

My current headphones are Thinksound ms01's and Skullcandy Aviators. My Aviators are extremely old now (well over 5 years old) and the faux leather on the earpieces has been falling off for ages now.

I'm thinking of picking up a new pair of headphones that would preferably be wireless and over/on-ear. I know that wireless headphones are generally overpriced, but I think the convenience factor is too alluring nowadays -- with how mobile my lifestyle is, it's really annoying to have a wire dangling around anytime I want to listen to music when I'm walking or otherwise traveling.

I saw that the Sony XB950B1 are on sale for $98 for Amazon's Prime Day (link) and was considering those, but the "Extra Bass" moniker doesn't give me a lot of confidence that these have quality sound.

I'm looking to not pay much more than $200 ($300 is my absolute upper limit for a pair of cans), and for a headphone that has preferably a neutral/balanced sound signature (although a bit warm/bassy is fine too since I'm not all that discerning) and is wireless. Any ideas? Thanks!

EDIT: Also, if you have any recommendations for non-wireless headphones feel free to shoot those my way as well.

I’ve owned this headphones for about a year now and they’re great quality.

u/Antinode_ · 1 pointr/bodybuilding

lookin for recommendations on some bluetooth headphones since min just broke. not earbuds though, they always end up killing my ears

I kinda want some of the sony ones, but looking at amazon reviews it seems they are liable to break easily where the ear phone piece connects to the head rest piece - like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N5UVZBP?ref=emc_b_5_t

u/kubiakWU · 0 pointsr/HeadphoneAdvice

I am not an audiophile but I do own a lot of inexpensive headphones because I love them! Based on what you've described, and even though it's a little out of your prices range, I'd recommend the Sony MDRXB950B1.

Sony XB950B1 Extra Bass Wireless Headphones with App Control, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N5UVZBP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Yb8WBbZ8GEH73

They cost about $128 dollars new right now but I've seen them go on sale for under $100. (And you can get refurbs for a lot less.)

I've got a set of the ATH-M50X and I really like them but they really don't have enough bass for a lot of music. They sounds great but they aren't fun.

Sony makes some really good headphones that are also a lot of fun. These MDRXB950B1 will probably be my next purchase. I want a set that's good for bassy music. My favorite headphones that I own right now are my first gen MDR-1000X. I want the new version but I can't justify spending the money on them.
